Coffee with mushrooms is ground or instant coffee with added extracts from mushrooms and plants. In this category, there are two lines, Adaptogenialna and Adaptogenius, each in a 100 g tube and in several flavors. Below we explain the differences between the forms, how to read the ingredients, and how to choose the right variant for yourself.

What you will find in the category

The Adaptogenialna line has an illustration of an owl on the tube, while Adaptogenius has a black or cream tube with a golden monogram AG, so both lines are easy to distinguish by packaging.

Adaptogenius comes in seven flavors: classic, caramel, coconut, almond, hazelnut, mocha, and bourbon vanilla. Each flavor is available as ground coffee and as instant coffee. In the Adaptogenialna line, you will find, among others, caramel, vanilla, apple pie, and cookie.

Ground coffee or instant coffee

Both forms are sold in the same mass of 100 g, but the manufacturer divides them differently. Ground coffee provides 10 servings of 10 g, while instant coffee provides 20 servings, so one serving of instant coffee is inherently smaller. With one serving per day, the tube lasts as many days as it has servings.

You brew ground coffee in a pour-over, moka pot, French press, or infuser. Instant coffee only needs to be poured with hot water and stirred, without a filter and without grounds. In the Adaptogenialna line, the composition of both forms is written the same way, so the choice between them is primarily a choice of convenience.

What is in a serving

The base of every coffee in the category is coffee, and the extracts are an addition. In the Adaptogenialna line, arabica makes up 57% of the serving, extract from lion’s mane 10:1 is 10%, multi-flower honey powder another 10%, and dates 5%. Extracts from cordyceps, chaga, reishi, and rhodiola rosea are each 3%, bacopa, L-theanine, and L-tyrosine are each 1%.

Adaptogenius coffees also combine coffee with extracts from mushrooms and plants. Check their composition on the label of the chosen flavor and form.

In the Adaptogenialna line, honey and ground dates are responsible for the taste, as the manufacturer does not sweeten it with sugar or sweeteners. The rest of the flavor comes from natural aroma, usually 3% of the serving.

How to read the label of coffee with mushrooms

First, check if the composition provides the amount of each extract, in percentages or in milligrams per serving. A list of mushroom names without numbers does not allow for comparing two coffees. Both records can be compared if you know the serving size: 10% lion’s mane in a 10 g serving is 1000 mg.

The notation 10:1 for the extract refers to the ratio of raw material to the finished extract, not to the content of specific compounds. Also check the amount of caffeine per serving and the number of servings in the tube, as this determines the size of one coffee. How to brew coffee with mushrooms

In the Adaptogenialna line, the manufacturer recommends a serving of 10 g, which is about two teaspoons, for 200 ml of water at a temperature of 93-96 °C, not boiling. One serving per day is the upper limit that is not worth exceeding.

For ground coffee, the manufacturer does not recommend a pressure coffee maker, as too high a temperature is not beneficial for the mushroom ingredients. A better choice is a pour-over coffee maker or infuser. Add milk or plant-based drink after brewing, just like with regular coffee.

Who is coffee with mushrooms for

This format is for someone who already drinks coffee and prefers to get mushroom extracts in the same cup instead of taking them separately. The limitation is one: you cannot adjust the proportions yourself, as they are locked in a ready-made mixture.
