In the Creams category, we have gathered face creams for day and night, eye creams, hand and foot creams, and larger tubes for the body. Some of them are hemp creams, based on hemp seed oil or CBD, while others are based on different ingredients: argan oil, aloe vera, goat milk, or peptides. Below, we explain the differences between these groups and how to read a cream label.

Day and Night Face Creams

Palacio Aloe Vera Skin Cream in a 50 ml package has a light water-based formula. Alongside aloe extract, the manufacturer lists panthenol, hydrolyzed elastin, soluble collagen, and vitamin E. The cream is used in the morning and evening, and its light consistency allows it to be applied under makeup.

Palacio Argan Oil Cream in a 50 ml tube is thick and greasy, as its base consists of liquid paraffin and shea butter. The manufacturer marks the formula as vegetarian and dermatologically tested, recommending it for morning and evening use. For oily skin, such a base may be too heavy.

Some creams come in pairs for day and night. In the Reishi CéBéDé line, both variants combine reishi mushroom extract with hemp seed extract, while in the creams with the SYN-AKE peptide, the night version adds lactic acid.

Hemp Creams: Hemp Oil and CBD in Cream

Hemp seed oil and CBD are two different things. Oil is a fatty raw material and appears in the INCI list as Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil.

CBD is provided in milligrams for the entire package, not per application. The Protect & Glow face creams for day and Renew & Repair for night contain 300 mg of CBD in 50 ml, the Lift & Soothe eye cream has 200 mg in 15 ml, and the Anti-perspirant foot cream has 500 mg. The day cream Reishi CéBéDé lists cannabidiol at 50 mg.

For Eyes, Hands, Feet, and Body

The skin around the eyes is thinner, which is why eye creams have separate, lighter formulas. Palacio offers an eye cream with goat milk in a 50 ml package, alongside the smaller Lift & Soothe in a 15 ml package. Face creams, such as the argan Palacio, should be applied avoiding the eye area.

Palacio hand creams come in 75 ml tubes and differ by oil: macadamia with honey extract, almond oil with vitamins A and E, or olive oil with lanolin. Reishi CéBéDé for hands has 100 ml, while the hemp hand cream comes in a 125 ml tube with a dispenser.

The remaining 125 ml tubes are for larger body areas. The regenerating cream with snail extract Helix is directed towards normal and dry skin, while the snake venom cream is a broad-spectrum formula for massage, not for the face.

How to Read the INCI List

The order in the INCI list reflects the proportion of the ingredient, so the name on the tube is just the beginning. In the argan cream, Palacio lists liquid paraffin in second place, while argan oil is in the second half of the list. In the Aloe Vera cream, aloe extract is also in the second half, which distinguishes the cream from aloe gel.

The trade name does not always indicate what is inside. Snake venom in Palacio creams refers to the SYN-AKE peptide, which mimics a component of venom, not venom taken from an animal. The hyaluronic acid in the Palacio day cream is described by the manufacturer as low molecular weight.

Also check the fragrance and preservatives. The entry Parfum or Parfume indicates a fragrance composition, and in the Reishi CéBéDé line, six fragrance allergens are declared at the end of the list. The argan cream is preserved with phenoxyethanol and ethylhexylglycerin, with no parabens listed.

How to Choose a Cream

Start with the skin type indicated by the manufacturer. Aloe Vera and argan cream are directed towards all skin types, with a focus on dry and combination skin, while coconut cream is for normal and dry skin. Then choose the consistency: light water-based or thick and greasy, for winter and for skin that feels tight after washing.

The packaging also matters. A tube is convenient for a bag and frequent use, while a jar is for creams applied at home. Before using a new cream for the first time, do a patch test on a small area of skin, especially if the formula contains a fragrance composition.
