For Animals

In this category, you will find CBD for animals and other products for dogs, cats, and horses: hemp oils, fish oils, treats and snacks, peanut butters, and balms for paws and noses. Oils, fish oils, treats, snacks, and butters are feed materials and complementary foods, given alongside regular food. Below, we explain the differences and what to check on the label.

Hemp Oils: Concentration and Amount per Drop

To compare oils, the amount of CBD per drop is most useful, not the percentage. Hempmont Pets Care for cats has 600 mg of CBD in 12 ml, which is 5%, and about 2.5 mg per drop. The version for dogs has 1200 mg in 12 ml, which is 10%, and about 5 mg per drop.

The Animals line from Green Pharm has concentrations of 3%, 5%, and 10% in 11 ml and 33 ml bottles, from 300 mg to 3000 mg per package. The manufacturer calculates it as 3 drops: about 3 mg at 3%, 5 mg at 5%, and 10 mg at 10%. The 10% versions are intended for animals over 30 kg.

Green Paw provides the dosage according to body weight: Pet Care 6% and 9% in 10 ml bottles is one drop for 2 kg or 3 kg, and All Good 60 ml, with 0.7 mg of CBD and CBG per drop, one drop for 1 kg. The PETS oil has 400 mg in 10 ml, which is 4%, and 4 drops is according to the manufacturer 8 mg.

What the Oil is Based On

Most oils have a base of fish oil. In the Animals line, it is salmon oil with hemp oil, while Hempmont Pets Care combines hemp oil with cod liver oil and milk thistle oil. The PETS oil contains hemp oil, fish oil, and vitamin E.

Couch Potato and All Good from Green Paw are based on Norwegian salmon oil and krill oil. Couch Potato 60 ml has 500 mg of oil from hemp cake extraction, and 120 ml has 1000 mg. The oil from Kombinat Konopny is hemp flour macerated in salmon oil, with 500 mg of CBD in a 30 ml bottle.

Treats, Snacks, and Peanut Butters

Hemp for dogs from Kombinat Konopny consists of 150 g of beef and hemp flour treats, with about 3 mg of CBD per treat. The manufacturer recommends one-third of a treat per 1 kg of body weight. Canna Bones from Plants for Pets weigh 1.6 g each, totaling 16 g, and have 5 mg of CBD each.

Dogitos treats from Green Paw in 100 g packages are beef with collagen, glucosamine, and chondroitin in the For Joints version or game meat with inulin, beta-glucan, and biotin in the Vitality version. The number of treats per day depends on the dog’s weight.

Green Paw peanut butters in 350 g jars are roasted peanuts with one addition: inulin in Gut Nut, oil from hemp cake in Don’t go Nuts, or devil’s claw extract in Hard As A Nut. The manufacturer recommends 45 g, or 3 tablespoons, for 20 kg of body weight.

Products for Horses

Hemp for horses from Kombinat Konopny is granulated decarboxylated hemp flour and oil in a 2 kg bucket, with 20000 mg of CBD. The scoop measures 10 g, which is 100 mg of CBD, and the manufacturer recommends from 15 g to 60 g daily for a horse and from 10 g to 30 g for a pony. The manufacturer reminds that FEI recognizes cannabidiol as a doping substance and recommends a break of 10-14 days before competitions.

TOPICAL treats are handmade bars and cookies made from oats and beet syrup, with inactivated yeast. The bars come in packs of 6, each 85 g, with a maximum of 1 per day, and the cookies come in packs of 10, each 35 g, with a maximum of 2 per day. The sweet cookies contain dried apples, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds, with no added salt.

Balm for Paws and Noses

Green Paw has two balms in 50 ml jars based on shea butter, beeswax, coconut oil, and jojoba oil. Can’t Touch This is intended for paw pads, with chamomile and rosemary extract and cannabinoids from hemp. Into The Sun is applied to the nose and exposed areas, with carrot seed oil and pomegranate seed oil.

CBD for Animals: What to Check on the Label

Check the limit of phytonutrients. Green Paw states that the daily amount of hemp phytonutrients should not exceed 2 mg per kilogram of body weight. If you are giving two products with hemp, such as oil and butter, count them together.

Check the caloric content and allergens. Peanut butters have 629 kcal in 100 g, and peanuts and dried celery in TOPICAL bars can be poorly tolerated. Introduce a new product gradually, and for sick animals, pregnant ones, or those taking medication, consult with a veterinarian.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to Compare Oils with Different Concentrations?

Look at the milligrams of CBD per drop, not just the percentage. A drop of Hempmont Pets Care 5% is about 2.5 mg, and 10% is about 5 mg. In the Animals line from Green Pharm, the dosage is calculated as 3 drops: the manufacturer states about 3 mg at 3%, 5 mg at 5%, and 10 mg at 10%.

Are there oils without hemp in this category?

Yes. Vitamin Sea from Green Paw is salmon oil with vitamins A, D, E, and K, and Pretty in Pink is just salmon oil, without added vitamins. Neither contains hemp phytonutrients. Salmon oil with hemp oil can be found in the Animals line, and in Couch Potato, Norwegian salmon oil with krill oil.

How many treats from Hemp for Dogs should I give my dog?

The manufacturer recommends one-third of a treat, which is 1 mg of CBD, per 1 kg of body weight. This is 150 g of treats made from beef and hemp flour, with about 3 mg of CBD in one. Introduce them gradually and do not exceed the portion on the label. If you are also giving other products with hemp, count them together.

Do the savory cookies for horses contain salt?

No. The ingredients are oats, dried pumpkin, pumpkin seeds, beet syrup, and inactivated yeast. The name describes the savory flavor and distinguishes them from sweet cookies with dried apples. TOPICAL cookies come in packs of 10, each 35 g, and a maximum of 2 are given daily.
