S-LAB: thirty-eight strains under two registered names

Who stands behind the S-LAB brand and where does its flower come from?

The entity responsible for the flower sold under the S-LAB brand is the Polish company S-Lab from Mirków near Wrocław, present in pharmacy for years, previously associated with ophthalmic drugs. It does not cultivate the raw material itself: industry publications consistently point to the Portuguese Tilray facility. We were unable to open a registration document confirming this.

The responsible entity’s address appears in the product card maintained by the online pharmacy DOZ: S-lab Sp. z o. o., Kiełczowska 2, 55-095 Mirków. The company’s official website presents it as a Polish drug manufacturer active for over twenty years and does not mention cannabis at all. The presence of this brand on the medical marijuana market is thus in the form of registration and import, not cultivation.

Where the raw material comes from is told by the industry press, not documentation. Michał Szary in a market review published on WeedWeek on May 22, 2025 writes that Tilray is the producer of Cannabis flos for companies in Poland such as S-Lab, ODI Pharma, Synoptis Pharma, or Polfarmex, and that much of the raw material in Poland comes from the same source. The author is an employee of the competing company Cosma, which matters when reading this assessment. The same direction is indicated by OdmianyMarihuany.pl and Konopna Klinika, the latter stating that the drug was released on the Polish market by an entity named S-Lab, produced in Portugal by Tilray Portugal. Three independent publications say the same, but none is an entry in the medicinal product register.

Which S-LAB strains reach Polish pharmacies?

Thirty-eight, almost half of the eighty-five cultivars in our pharmacy list. These thirty-eight names carry eighty-six of the one hundred forty-one pharmacy items we counted. No other entity on this market covers even half that range, the closest has fourteen strains.

Twenty of these strains have no other supplier in Polish pharmacies, so they will disappear from the market with this brand. Thirteen also appear under the name Tilray, twelve under Synoptis Pharma, and nine simultaneously under all three. Pink Kush is an extreme case: the same cultivar appears under five brands.

The leading terpene by pharmacy items is caryophyllene for twenty of these strains. Nerolidol and myrcene lead five times each, pinene and limonene three times each, terpinolene twice. The distribution is thus heavily skewed one way, which is unsurprising with a single raw material supplier.

The length of the list itself can be misleading. Twenty names in this list have no substitute from another entity, so a supply break means the strain disappears from circulation, not a label change. For the remaining eighteen, the patient may be switched between brands with the same cultivar name. The table below lists all names with the leading terpene and information on whether the same cultivar appears under another brand in pharmacies.

What do the letters in the batch number on the package mean?

The strain. The prescription indicates the registered name, not the cultivar, so the only trace leading to a specific strain remains in the batch number printed on the label. Letters usually woven between blocks of digits are an abbreviation of the strain name and they determine what the patient received this time. Without this abbreviation, the package says nothing about the strain.

The oldest description of this mechanism we found comes from the Weednews portal dated January 17, 2023. It described three strains sold under one S-LAB registration and PK codes for Pink Kush, MG for Mango, and GSC for Girl Scout Cookies.

The BudCare service guide from February 27, 2024 shows the same scheme using batch 25GS03LD030103, where code LD corresponds to Lilac Diesel, and TM to Triangle Mints. The registry card in the same service adds BB for Blueberry, ANM for Animintz, and PKC for Pink Certz, and the October 30, 2025 summary adds IIM, WP, BCH, and RS. The patient can find the batch number on the pharmacy label, in the prescription fulfillment document on pacjent.gov.pl, or from the pharmacist.

None of these lists is published by the responsible entity. All were created by industry services and patients, so they may be incomplete. The official trace is visible in the trade name of the package: the DOZ pharmacy lists an item with MG appended in the name and directly states the Mango strain in the product card.

How does S-LAB raw material differ from flower of other manufacturers?

Not by cultivation process, about which nothing is publicly known, but by registration method. S-LAB fits thirty-eight strains under two registered names, i.e. nineteen cultivars per registration. For other entities this ratio is several times lower, and for some exactly one. This number explains most of the differences described below.

We counted this on profiles from BudCare. Fifty-one items assigned to S-LAB are split into two registered names, twenty-seven and twenty-four. Tilray fits fourteen strains in two registrations, Synoptis Pharma thirteen in three, Aurora ten in six, and Cantourage five strains in five separate registrations. In the whole set we counted forty-four registered names.

Registration indicates declared raw material potency, not the strain. Both S-LAB names sound the same except for declared active substance content, which has allowable deviation from the manufacturer’s value. Thirteen cultivars appear in both potencies simultaneously, so the same strain may be in pharmacy under two separate registered items.

Descriptions of aroma and expected effects circulating with these strains come from store catalogs and industry portals, not documentation. Documents state raw material form, package size, declared potency, and dispensing category. The rest is commercial description and should be read as such.

Are S-LAB, Tilray, and Synoptis Pharma flower the same material?

Unknown, and this cannot be resolved from outside. Industry press points to one producer for all three brands, and our data show a large common part in strain names. Neither of these findings proves the patient receives the same batch.

The common part is large. Nine cultivars appear simultaneously under three brands: Beach Crasher, Cataract Kush, Frosted Cherry Cookies, Galaxy Walker OG, Island Sweet Skunk, Lilac Diesel, Master Kush, Purps, and Pink Kush. Besides that, thirteen strains are shared by S-LAB and Tilray, and twelve with Synoptis Pharma.

Common name is not proof of raw material identity. Pharmacist Konrad Okurowski in a reply published July 7, 2023 on rx.edu.pl writes that for a Cannabis flos S-lab prescription the patient should receive flower of that brand, and if Tilray flower was prescribed, that should be dispensed, because raw materials may differ in strain and terpene environment.

There is also variability over time. In BudCare profiles, thirty-six of fifty-one S-LAB items were marked unavailable at sampling, and fifteen marked highly available. The list of strains under this brand is thus a list of what may be in circulation, not what is in every pharmacy today.

What is known and unknown about S-LAB raw material?

Little is known from documentation and these are formal things: registered name, raw material form, package size, declared potency, dispensing category, and responsible entity. Everything about strain, cultivation, and terpene composition comes from non-registered sources. We found no batch analysis certificate publicly available.

We checked how many of these thirty-eight strains have terpene profiles confirmed by more than one source. Two. Eight have conflicting descriptions between two databases, and twenty-eight are described by only one database. Genetics is similar: twelve consistent descriptions, twelve conflicting, fourteen from one source. Therefore, we do not provide percentage shares for terpene names on these pages.

Marketing material and patient reports form a separate layer in this set. Aroma descriptions, effect declarations, and potency comparisons circulate in catalogs without method disclosure. Pharmacist Bartłomiej Zalewa sent four S-LAB strains to Cannalabs lab in 2023, but the April 20, 2023 article cites no numbers and refers to a video, so we do not treat this study as data.

Current pharmacy availability summary with numbers is maintained separately, in the hub of this cluster. Two things are easy to confuse: pharmacy raw material dispensed on prescription is not the same as hemp flower from retail sale, which has its own category in our store here and shares nothing with medical marijuana except the plant species.

What adverse effects have been reported after S-LAB flower?

Nothing separately reported for this brand that is publicly available. Polish safety summaries do not break down reports by individual registrations or strains, so there are simply no statistics for flower of this brand. What remains is what is known about hemp flower as a group of raw materials.

Adverse effect reports are collected for the medicinal product with batch number, not for strain name, so the following applies to hemp flower as a group. Most common are dry mouth, eye redness, and increased heart rate. Less often described are dizziness on quick standing, daytime drowsiness, transient fresh memory impairment, and anxiety increasing with dose. A separate matter is concomitant medications, especially sedatives and blood thinners: their assessment requires knowledge of the full list of preparations, not the plant description. We do not provide numerical frequencies because public Polish summaries for hemp flower do not separate by product.

One thing is specific to this brand. Since the batch number carries the strain code, a report assigned to a batch can be traced back to a specific cultivar, which cannot be done with just the registered name. The condition is that the batch number is included in the report, so a patient wishing to report something should keep the package label.
