Rockstar (S-LAB and Tilray): nerolidol, Sensi Star in the pedigree and three positions

Rockstar is an indica strain from Rock Bud and Sensi Star, which reaches Polish pharmacies from two producers in three registered positions. The terpene profile describes one source and places nerolidol at the top.

  • Who supplies. 2 producers (S-LAB, Tilray) in 3 positions, which may differ in declaration and origin of the raw material.
  • Profile. Leads with nerolidol, alongside bisabolol, humulen, caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, myrcene. We do not provide percentage shares because sources count them against different wholes.
  • Origin. Established pedigree, parents are Rock Bud and Sensi Star.
  • What is missing. The profile describes one source, so there is nothing to compare it with.

What is Rockstar and where does this strain come from?

Rockstar is an indica cultivar, whose parents are Rock Bud and Sensi Star. The pedigree is established, and the same pair is repeated by several independent strain databases, so Rockstar does not belong to those twenty-five cases in the cluster where the origin remains unknown. Both sources used for this project consistently describe the genetics as indica.

The pedigree record comes from three strain catalogs. Strainpedia, AllBud, and SeedFinder provide the same parent pair, and the latter maintains an entry under the breeding of Bonguru Beans. The consistency of three separate records is significant here, because in the same set, twenty-five cultivars out of eighty-five have no established origin at all: the breeder did not disclose it or the available databases contradict each other. Where this is the case, we write about it directly instead of filling the gap with assumptions.

Name similarities can be misleading, and here it seems to lead in the right direction. Rockstar shares the first part with Rock Bud, and Sensi Star ends with the same word as the strain name, but the kinship comes from the record in the databases, not from a shared syllable. If the name were sufficient as evidence, every cultivar with the part “star” would be considered a descendant of Sensi Star, but that is not the case: in this comparison, kinship arises solely from the parent record, never from phonetic similarity.

Which producers supply Rockstar to Polish pharmacies?

Two: S-LAB and Tilray. In the collected inventory, they correspond to three registered positions, as S-LAB offers this strain in two declared strengths, and Tilray in one. The current assortment and prices are exclusively in the updated list of available strains, as both of these things change faster than the strain description.

Producer Positions in inventory How do the position descriptions differ
S-LAB two Two different declared strengths with identical terpene records; the aroma description for one position is spicy-fruity, for the other earthy-minty
Tilray one One declared strength and the same terpene record as S-LAB; the aroma description combines a spicy note with minty

The declared THC content is not a single number. The positions differ in strength, and the producer has a ten percent tolerance for the values on the packaging, so the total range for all three Rockstar positions is 16.2-24.2%. Providing just the nominal value would suggest precision that is not present in the documentation: a batch compliant with the declaration may lie at the lower or upper end of this range, and the patient will not know the analysis result of their package.

Availability is not a feature of the strain, but a state of stock. In the collected data, all three positions had a source marker of unavailability, which does not mean that the strain has disappeared from the market permanently, nor that it will not return with the next import. Therefore, no entry in this cluster leads its own availability list. It is also worth separating two things with similar names: pharmacy raw material issued by a doctor’s prescription is different from hemp flower available without a prescription in retail sales.

What does Rockstar smell and taste like?

All three catalog descriptions agree only on the peppery note. Apart from that, they diverge: one position carries a spicy note with fruity and herbal, another earthy with minty, the third combines spicy with minty. These are commercial descriptions, not results of sensory testing, and should be read as such.

The aroma is determined by the volatile composition, and this describes one source for Rockstar. The taxonomy includes seven positions: bisabolol, humulen, caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, myrcene and nerolidol. Since they are described by one database, there is nothing to compare here, and it is unknown whether another would indicate the same set.

The source provides a numerical share for each position, which we do not transcribe. The reason is simple: shares in Polish databases do not add up to a whole, and their sum can differ in each set, so it is unclear what stands in the denominator of such a fraction. A number without a known denominator looks like a measurement, but it is not. Therefore, we present the composition as composition, and we only say that nerolidol stands highest in this record.

There is also a detail visible only when comparing the three positions side by side: the terpene record is identical in value, although the aroma descriptions differ. This means that it was assigned to the strain, not the tested batch, and that it cannot replace the analysis of a specific series from the pharmacy.

How long does it take for Rockstar to take effect and how long does the effect last?

There is no such measurement for Rockstar itself. The onset of effect and the duration of the episode depend primarily on the method of intake, and only subsequently on what grows in the pot. No publication has tracked blood concentrations after consuming this particular flower.

The method of administration determines the course more than the strain itself, and the ranges below describe it, not this cultivar, because pharmacokinetic studies for a single cultivar have not been published.

Vaporization After swallowing
First sensations after a few minutes from half an hour to two
Onset another ten to thirty minutes slow, over several hours
Total duration within two to four hours after six, sometimes eight hours
Typical error none taking a dose after thirty minutes, which gives both doses at once

The method of administration is determined by the attending physician, as hemp flower is issued by a doctor’s prescription. The above numbers serve to understand why the same dose behaves differently depending on the route of administration, and not for independently arranging a dosing scheme.

What is known and what is not known about the effects of this strain?

Research on Rockstar reveals almost nothing. The publications that can be referenced here describe a single terpene from its profile, not the cultivar, and were conducted on rodents. All other circulating descriptions come from sales materials or patient reports, which is a completely different type of information.

In the evidence base of this project, nerolidol corresponds to two positions.

Study Model and route of administration What was shown
Fonsêca DV et al., 2016
Fundamental & Clinical Pharmacology
PMID:26791997
rodent (mouse) Nerolidol (200-400 mg/kg) reduced the number of abdominal contractions induced by acetic acid in mice and lowered levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-alpha and IL-1beta; the authors suggested the involvement of the GABAergic system in the analgesic effect, as opposed to the opioid mechanism and potassium channels.
Hojjat SH et al., 2026
Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria
PMID:42447923
rodent (mouse, oral administration) Oral nerolidol (25-100 mg/kg) prolonged latency to seizures induced by pentylenetetrazole (MCS and GTCS phases) and reduced markers of oxidative stress in the brain.

It has not been shown that nerolidol alleviates anxiety or insomnia in humans; both available studies concern rodents and describe analgesic, anticonvulsant, and antioxidant effects, not sleep or mood.

On the other side stands the commercial material. The catalog source assigns the same possible effect to all three positions, described as relaxing, and there is no publication backing this statement. The result obtained in mice after a dose calculated per kilogram of body weight cannot be translated to inhaled flower in humans. Separating these two orders is the entire content of this section: what was measured and on whom, and what was merely written in the product description.

What side effects have been reported after this strain?

Separately for Rockstar, none, and there is no source for them. Safety monitoring is conducted in Poland at the level of packaging and batches, so public compilations do not break down reports by the trade names of cultivars. The following description thus covers hemp flower treated as a group of raw materials, not just this one strain.

Reports of side effects are collected for the medicinal product with a batch number, not for the strain name, so the following pertains to hemp flower as a group of raw materials. The most commonly reported symptoms are dry mouth, red eyes, and increased heart rate. Dizziness upon rapid standing, daytime drowsiness, and transient worsening of short-term memory are less frequently described, as well as anxiety that increases with dosage. A separate issue is medications taken concurrently, especially sedatives and those affecting coagulation: their assessment requires knowledge of the entire list of preparations, not just the description of the plant. We do not provide numerical frequencies for these symptoms, as public compilations for hemp flower in Poland do not separate them by individual products.

A list of symptoms assigned to a specific strain would look more precise than the above, but it would be fabricated: the data from which it would arise are not collected by cultivar. We prefer to state this directly rather than create a unique profile of side effects for Rockstar that no one has measured.

How to vaporize this strain?

Temperatures tailored for nerolidol cannot be provided, as the public database does not contain values comparable to other terpenes. The method of administration is determined by the attending physician: hemp flower is a pharmaceutical raw material issued by a doctor’s prescription, and this entry describes the state of knowledge, not a recommendation.

The public database PubChem has exactly one entry for nerolidol stating 275-277 degrees Celsius; it comes from a JECFA compilation and is not accompanied by information about the pressure at which the measurement was made. Boiling point depends on pressure, so a number lacking this information cannot be placed in the same column next to atmospheric values. In the Rockstar profile, the same problem applies to humulen: the database records 99-100 degrees, but the measurement was made at a pressure of 3 mm Hg, thus in a laboratory rarefied atmosphere. Bisabolol is not described at all.

The very concept of terpene temperature is misleading. A substance also transitions to vapor at temperatures lower than boiling, and the rate of this transition increases with heating smoothly, so there is no threshold at which vaporization begins. A separate issue is the difference between the device setting and the temperature of the flower itself, which can be cooled by airflow during inhalation. Both topics are developed in the entry about vaporization of terpenes from flower.

Which strains are related to it?

In Polish pharmacies, none. Neither Rock Bud nor Sensi Star appears in the pedigree of any other among the eighty-five cultivars collected in this cluster, so the pedigree graph leaves Rockstar without siblings. The empty list here is the result of verification, not a gap in the data.

Strains sharing the leading terpene are sometimes taken as relatives, but that is a completely different axis. Nerolidol stands highest in the record of several other positions from this set, including Galaxy Walker OG and Pink Kush, but the common terpene speaks to the volatile composition, not to lineage. A full list of strains with this terpene is maintained in a separate entry about nerolidol.

If either parent ever enters Polish circulation, this section will receive a reference. Adding siblings by intuition creates connections that no one later clarifies, and the pedigree graph ceases to mean anything. Until such a change, Rockstar’s neighborhood is defined not by pedigree, but by who supplies it: S-LAB and Tilray. Both have much broader lists of strains in Polish circulation, and it is there, not in the pedigree, that the closest surroundings of this position will be found.

Frequently asked questions about the Rockstar strain

Is Rockstar available in Polish pharmacies?

Rockstar appears in the collected inventory in three positions from two producers, but the availability of a specific series changes from import to import, and at the time of data collection, the source marked all three as unavailable. The current state carries only an updated list of strains, not a description of a single strain.

What THC content does Rockstar have?

Declarations for individual positions differ from each other, and the producer has a ten percent tolerance for the value stated on the packaging. Combining both of these things, the total range for Rockstar is 16.2-24.2%. A single number would suggest accuracy that the registration documentation does not provide.

What terpenes are described in the Rockstar profile?

The record includes seven positions: bisabolol, humulen, caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, myrcene, and nerolidol, with nerolidol standing highest in it. They are described by one database, so there is no comparison between sources. We do not transcribe percentage shares because the denominator of these fractions remains unknown.

Does Rockstar help with sleep or anxiety?

There is no study that has shown this. The available studies for nerolidol were conducted on mice and concern pain, seizures, and oxidative stress, not sleep or mood. The catalog descriptions attributing relaxing effects to this strain are commercial material, not measurement results.

What is the pedigree of Rockstar?

The parents are Rock Bud and Sensi Star, and the same pair is repeated by three independent strain catalogs. Therefore, Rockstar belongs to that part of the cluster where the origin is established, and not to the twenty-five cultivars with the pedigree described as unknown.

Are there related strains to Rockstar in Polish pharmacies?

No. None of the eighty-five cultivars collected in this cluster shares a parent with it: neither Rock Bud nor Sensi Star appears in any other pedigree. Strains with the same leading terpene are not relatives, but neighbors on the composition axis.
