Cantourage: a platform that does not grow its own cannabis
Under one registered name in Polish pharmacies stands flower from several different cultivations in Canada. We explain what this structure changes in reading the label and what has not been established about this raw material.

- Scale. 5 strains in the list, in 6 pharmaceutical positions.
- What you won’t buy elsewhere. 4 of them are supplied exclusively by this manufacturer, so a break in their supply means a lack of these strains, not another version of them.
- Portfolio profile. Limonene leads, in 4 out of 5 strains, alongside caryophyllene.
- Pedigrees. All strains from this manufacturer have an established pedigree with a specified source.
Who is Cantourage and where does its raw material come from?
Cantourage is a Berlin-based company founded in 2019 that does not grow anything itself. It buys flowers from licensed growers in several countries, processes them in Germany, and introduces them under its own registered name to European markets. In Polish pharmacies, it is therefore responsible for the approval of positions for trading, not for their cultivation.
The company calls its own model Fast Track Access and describes it as a shortened path to the European market for growers from any corner of the world: the grower stays with their cultivation, and the regulatory side is taken on by Berlin. On the company website, there is a declaration of cooperation with over 65 licensed cannabis manufacturers and a statement that since 2019, the company has been showcasing a new strain in Germany every month. The shares went public on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange at the end of 2022.
The company entered the Polish market in December 2022. In its own announcement from the first day of that month, it called Poland the third European market after Germany and the United Kingdom, and the first position introduced at that time was a flower grown in Uganda, distributed by Cannabis House. The five that are now in pharmacies under that name come from a completely different direction.
The plant grows with partners, not in Berlin or Bavaria. Gelato 33 and Orange Cake are grown at LOT420 located southeast of Montreal, Modified Gas and Pavé S1 come from the Canadian company Green Karat, and Mac 1 is from the artisanal grower Miracle Valley in British Columbia. Thus, the entire set present in our inventory has grown in Canada, although none of these names appear on the pharmacy label.
Who is responsible for these positions in Polish pharmacies?
The approval is the responsibility of Cantourage GmbH from Germany, listed in drug databases as the responsible entity, while distribution to Polish wholesalers is handled by PharmaVitae Sp. z o.o. sp. k. The goods take the form of pharmaceutical raw material for pharmacy formulation, in a ten-gram package, issued only with a doctor’s prescription.
The separation of these roles can be confusing when reading store descriptions, as some refer to Cantourage as a distributor, while others call it a manufacturer. Neither of these terms captures what is seen in pharmacy documents: the German company certifies the registered position, the Polish company introduces it to the market locally, and the plant was grown by someone else, thousands of kilometers away.
The registered name is Cannabis flos Cantourage and carries a numerical component with the declared content. We provide it here without that component intentionally. The number on the label is a declared value, subject to permissible deviation in both directions, and not a measurement result of the batch that the patient receives at the counter. The strain name does not appear on the packaging at all: the patient recognizes the position by the number, the pharmacist by the registered name, and the trade name of the cultivar lives only in the descriptions of portals and stores.
Pharmacy databases indicate storage in the range of 2 to 25 degrees Celsius and one package weighing ten grams. For some of them, the KtoMaLek service indicates that the goods are difficult to obtain in pharmacies and displays a message about the lack of a leaflet. The latter is not an oversight by the service’s editorial team, but a property of the goods themselves.
Which Cantourage strains are available in Polish pharmacies?
Five. In the inventory of this cluster, Cantourage is responsible for five cultivars and five pharmaceutical positions out of a total of one hundred forty-one collected: Gelato 33, Mac 1, Modified Gas, Orange Cake, and Pavé S1. Four of them have limonene as the dominant terpene in the pharmacy data, and the fifth has caryophyllene.
| Strain | Leading terpene | Pedigree | Who else supplies it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gelato 33 | limonene | established | only this manufacturer |
| Mac 1 | limonene | established | Four 20 Pharma |
| Modified Gas | limonene | established | only this manufacturer |
| Orange Cake | limonene | established | only this manufacturer |
| Pave S1 | caryophyllene | established | only this manufacturer |
The set has grown gradually and was not created in one batch. Mac 1 appeared in pharmacies in December 2024, Gelato 33 on October 29, 2025, Pavé S1 in April 2026, and the last two positions entered together at the beginning of June 2026. Therefore, there is a year and a half between the last two.
Four positions from this five are described in pharmacy data with limonene, which we discuss separately in the text about this compound, while Pavé S1 is distinguished by caryophyllene. Such uniformity is an observation from our inventory, not a declaration from the company, and does not mean that the flower smells the same.
One of these names does not belong exclusively to Cantourage in Polish pharmacies. Mac 1 is also supplied by Four 20 Pharma, as a separate registered position with its own declaration. The remaining four cultivars are associated in our inventory only with this manufacturer, so a patient whose doctor prescribed them does not choose between versions from different entities.
What is not in this text and will not be: stock status and numbers that change every week. We maintain an up-to-date list of positions available in pharmacies in the list of available strains. The store category dried is a separate branch of the assortment, which has nothing to do with pharmaceutical raw material.
Why is Mac 1 from Cantourage not the same position as Mac 1 from someone else?
Because the strain name is not the registered name. Mac 1 reaches Polish pharmacies as two independent positions, one branded by Cantourage, the other by Four 20 Pharma, each with its own declaration and documentation. The published terpene profiles for them also differ, although the cultivar name sounds identical.
The budcare.pl database provides four compounds for the Cantourage position, each receiving the same share value, and the total comes out to exactly one hundred. For the position of the second entity, the same database lists five compounds with varied values, summing up to seventy-three. One name, two different descriptions, one source.
A flat set of identical values is not a measurement, but a substitute record. If four compounds truly constituted the same amount, they would fill the entire mass of the flower, leaving no room for the plant. The conclusion for reading descriptions is simple: the terpene profile is not part of the registration documentation, does not appear on the packaging, and does not have to be repeatable between batches.
For the patient, this means that two positions with the same strain name are two separate products, not two packages of the same. We elaborate on this in the text about the strain itself, along with the pedigree and evidence status for the terpene indicated there.
How does Cantourage’s raw material differ from others?
In two ways, both declared by the company itself. The first is processing in a German facility with EU-GMP certification, the second is the abandonment of ionizing radiation in favor of its own method of reducing the number of microorganisms. Neither of these is confirmed by the document available to the patient in the pharmacy, so we read them as a manufacturer’s statement.
On the company’s product page, there is a statement that significant stages of production take place in a certified EU-GMP facility in Germany, and if necessary, the company reduces the natural microbiological load of the flower below the permissible limits for medicinal products, using a method developed in-house. A separate sentence states directly that the company does not use ionizing radiation, which is intended to protect the terpenes and active substances of the plant.
This distinction is important because irradiation is often a routine solution in this industry and affects the smell of the flower. However, the pharmacy label does not say a word about how a given batch was sterilized, so comparing two positions in this regard relies solely on the manufacturers’ materials. The EU-GMP certificate remains a verifiable fact, as it is issued by the pharmaceutical supervisory authority, not the company itself.
The rest of what the company writes about itself is already promotional material. In a statement from June 16, 2021, announcing the Fast Track Access program, there is a promise of the highest European quality standards, but not a single sentence about where the processing takes place, what the batch testing looks like, or what exactly the laboratory measures. A promise without those three answers is a slogan, not documentation.
What is known and what is not known about Cantourage’s raw material?
It is known who is responsible for the position, where the flower grew, and what the declared content is. It is not known what the actual terpene composition of individual batches is: two Polish databases describing the same five provide different data, and where shares are mentioned at all, they do not add up to a coherent whole.
We calculated this based on our own data. For the five positions of this manufacturer, the total shares published by budcare.pl are 97, 100, 100, 118, and 125. Three of them are sets in which each listed component was assigned the same value. A total exceeding one hundred cannot describe part of a certain whole, and a set of equal values says nothing beyond the order of entry into the database.
The second database, medweed.pl, describes the same five positions and provides the order of components only for one of them. For Pavé S1, the two databases diverge: budcare.pl lists linalool, which the second source does not have in its calculation. For the other four, medweed.pl does not provide a composition at all, so a reader comparing both services gets one description and one void.
The certificate of analysis for the batch is a separate matter. The company declares quality controls and laboratory tests at several points in the process, but does not publish results for a specific batch in a place accessible to the patient or pharmacist before dispensing the medication. We also did not find a single observational report describing the safety of this manufacturer’s raw material on its own group of patients. The company mentions a telemedicine service on its website, but does not publish safety data in a form that could be verified externally. As long as this remains the case, attributing or removing any symptom to this manufacturer will be guesswork.
Is the availability of Cantourage strains in pharmacies stable?
No. The presence of a position in the register does not mean that the goods are sitting in the warehouse, and monitoring services mark some positions of this manufacturer as difficult to obtain. The set has grown in jumps over the last year and a half and can also shrink just as abruptly when a batch runs out.
Between the entry in the register and the shelf, there is still the approval for bringing in the goods. The budcare.pl portal described this stage as overloaded, which is why a position may be formally approved long before anyone sees it at the pharmacy counter. The permit for the raw material approval has a specified validity period and can be revoked, so the register describes the legal state, not the contents of the warehouse.
This is evident in the company’s own set. The first position entered in December 2024, the last two in June 2026, and the gaps between subsequent entries counted several months. Comparison services for pharmacies maintain separate pages for these positions for individual cities, which in itself says quite a bit: goods present in one pharmacy may be absent in another, on the same street.
The practical conclusion is that a prescription issued for a specific registered position may be harder to fulfill than a prescription described more generally. Whether it can be exchanged is determined by the attending physician together with the pharmacist, not the description of the strain on the internet or the announcement of new products.
What adverse effects have been reported after using Cantourage’s raw material?
None separately. There is no public compilation of reports assigned to this manufacturer’s positions, as safety oversight is conducted for the medicinal product with a batch number, not for the company name or strain name. Everything publicly available pertains to cannabis flower as a whole group of raw materials.
The lists of symptoms that appear with Cantourage positions on pharmacy services are the same lists as with positions from other entities. They include dry mouth, dizziness, excessive drowsiness, tachycardia, and memory and concentration disturbances, but without a single number indicating how often any of these symptoms occurred. This is a description relating to cannabis flower in general, not a result of observations of this specific raw material, so it says nothing about the flower from this company.
The lack of a leaflet for these positions should also not be read as negligence. Raw material intended for pharmacy formulation does not have the characteristics of a medicinal product in the same form as a finished drug in packaging, so services have nothing to display. Information about adverse effects then reaches the patient orally, from the doctor issuing the prescription and from the pharmacist at the time of dispensing.
We also did not find an observational report that would describe the safety of this company’s raw material on its own group of patients. The company mentions a telemedicine service on its website, but does not publish safety data in a form that could be verified externally. As long as this remains the case, attributing or removing any symptom to this manufacturer will be guesswork.
Frequently asked questions about Cantourage’s raw material
Does Cantourage grow cannabis itself?
No. The company buys flowers from licensed growers in several countries and processes them in Germany, and under its registered name in Polish pharmacies stands material sourced from several different cultivations.
How many Cantourage strains are in Polish pharmacies?
In the inventory of this cluster, there are five: Gelato 33, Mac 1, Modified Gas, Orange Cake, and Pavé S1. The set has grown from December 2024 to June 2026 and can change in either direction.
Who distributes Cantourage products in Poland?
The responsible entity is Cantourage GmbH from Germany, and the distributor in the Polish market is PharmaVitae Sp. z o.o. sp. k. The company’s first entry into our market in 2022 was handled by another entity.
Does Cantourage irradiate the flower?
The company declares on its website that it does not use ionizing radiation and reduces the microbiological load by its own method. This is a manufacturer’s statement, which the pharmacy label neither confirms nor denies.
Why is there no strain name on the packaging?
Because the registered name is Cannabis flos Cantourage along with a numerical component, and the strain name functions only in commercial descriptions. The same strain name may belong to two separate positions from different entities.
Are the published terpene profiles of Cantourage strains measurements?
They should not be read that way. The total shares provided for the five positions of this manufacturer are 97, 100, 100, 118, and 125, and in three cases, each listed component received the same value.
Cannabis flower is a pharmaceutical raw material dispensed by prescription in the Rpw category. The material is informational in nature, describes the state of evidence, and does not replace medical advice or pharmacist recommendations.
