S-LAB: thirty-eight strains under two registered names

Who is behind the S-LAB brand and where does its dried flower come from?

The entity responsible for the dried flower sold under the S-LAB brand is the Polish company S-Lab from Mirków near Wrocław, which has been present in pharmacy for years, previously associated with ophthalmic drugs. It does not cultivate the raw material itself: industry publications consistently point to the Portuguese facility Tilray. We were unable to open the registration document that would confirm this.

The address of the responsible entity is listed on the product card maintained by the online pharmacy DOZ: S-lab Sp. z o. o., Kiełczowska 2, 55-095 Mirków. The company's website presents it as a Polish drug manufacturer present in the market for over twenty years and does not mention hemp at all. Therefore, the presence of this brand in the medical marijuana market takes the form of registration and import, rather than cultivation.

Where the raw material itself comes from is mentioned by industry press, not documentation. Michał Szary, in a market review published on WeedWeek on May 22, 2025, writes that Tilray is the producer of Cannabis flos for companies in Poland such as S-Lab, ODI Pharma, Synoptis Pharma, or Polfarmex, and that a significant amount of raw material in Poland comes from the same source. The author is signed as an employee of the competing company Cosma, which is relevant when reading this assessment. The same direction is indicated by the websites OdmianyMarihuany.pl and Konopna Klinika, with the latter stating that the drug was released on the Polish market by an entity named S-Lab, and is produced in Portugal by Tilray Portugal. Three independent publications say the same, but none of them is an entry in the register of medicinal products.

Which S-LAB strains reach Polish pharmacies?

Thirty-eight, which is almost half of the eighty-five cultivars in our pharmacy list. These thirty-eight names account for eighty-six out of one hundred forty-one positions counted by us. No other entity in this market covers even half of such a range, and the closest has fourteen strains.

Twenty of these strains have no other supplier in Polish pharmacies, so they will disappear from the market along with this brand. Thirteen are also listed under the name Tilray, twelve under the name Synoptis Pharma, and nine simultaneously under all three. Pink Kush is an extreme case: the same cultivar appears under five brands.

The leading terpene according to pharmacy positions is for twenty of these strains caryophyllene. Nerolidol and myrcene lead five times each, pinene and limonene three times each, and terpinolene twice. The distribution is therefore heavily skewed in one direction, which is not surprising with one raw material supplier.

The length of the list itself can be misleading. Twenty names from this list have no substitute from another entity, so a supply interruption means the disappearance of the strain from circulation, not a change in the label. For the remaining eighteen, patients may be switched between brands with the same cultivar name. The table below compares all names with the leading terpene and indicates whether the same cultivar is available in the pharmacy under a different brand.

What do the letters in the batch number on the packaging mean?

The strain. The prescription indicates the registered name, not the cultivar, so the only trace leading to a specific strain is in the batch number printed on the label. The letters usually woven between blocks of numbers are an abbreviation of the strain name, and they determine what the patient received this time. Without this abbreviation, the packaging says nothing about the strain.

The oldest description of this mechanism that we found comes from the Weednews portal dated January 17, 2023. It described three strains sold under one registration S-LAB and the PK code for Pink Kush, MG for Mango, and GSC for Girl Scout Cookies.

The BudCare service guide from February 27, 2024, shows the same pattern using the example of the series 25GS03LD030103, where the LD code corresponds to the strain Lilac Diesel, and TM to the strain Triangle Mints. The registry card in the same service adds BB for Blueberry, ANM for Animintz, and PKC for Pink Certz, while the summary from October 30, 2025, adds IIM, WP, BCH, and RS. The patient will find the batch number on the pharmacy label, in the prescription fulfillment document on pacjent.gov.pl, or with the pharmacist.

None of these lists are published by the responsible entity. All were created in industry services and among patients, so they may be incomplete. An official trace can be seen in the trade name of the packaging: the DOZ pharmacy has a position with the MG suffix in the name, and in the product card, it directly states the Mango strain.

How does S-LAB raw material differ from dried flower from other producers?

Not by the cultivation process, about which nothing is publicly known, but by the registration method. S-LAB encompasses thirty-eight strains under two registered names, meaning nineteen cultivars per registration. For other entities, this ratio is several times lower, and for some, it is exactly one. This number explains most of the differences described below.

We counted this on the profiles from the BudCare service. Fifty-one positions assigned to S-LAB are distributed across two registered names, twenty-seven and twenty-four. Tilray encompasses fourteen strains in two registrations, Synoptis Pharma thirteen in three, Aurora ten in six, and Cantourage five strains in five separate registrations. In the entire collection, we counted forty-four registered names.

Registration indicates the declared potency of the raw material, not the strain. Both S-LAB names sound the same apart from the declared content of active substances, which has an allowable deviation from the value stated by the manufacturer. Thirteen cultivars occur in both potencies at once, so the same strain may be in the pharmacy under two separate registration positions.

Descriptions of aroma and expected effects that circulate with these strains come from store catalogs and industry portals, not from documentation. The documents state the form of the raw material, package size, declared potency, and dispensing category. The rest is a commercial description and should be read as such.

Is the dried flower from S-LAB, Tilray, and Synoptis Pharma the same material?

It is unknown, and this cannot be determined from the outside. Industry press indicates one manufacturer for all three brands, and our data shows a broad commonality in strain names. However, neither of these two findings proves that the patient receives the same batch.

The commonality is significant. Nine cultivars are listed simultaneously under three brands: Beach Crasher, Cataract Kush, Frosted Cherry Cookies, Galaxy Walker OG, Island Sweet Skunk, Lilac Diesel, Master Kush, Purps, and Pink Kush. Additionally, thirteen strains are shared between S-LAB and the Tilray brand, while twelve are shared with the Synoptis Pharma brand.

However, a common name is not proof of the identity of the raw material. Pharmacist Konrad Okurowski, in a response published on July 7, 2023, on the portal rx.edu.pl, writes that for a prescription for Cannabis flos S-lab, the patient should receive dried flower of this brand, and if dried flower from Tilray is prescribed, that should be dispensed, as the raw materials may differ in strain and terpene environment.

Additionally, there is variability over time. In profiles from the BudCare service, thirty-six out of fifty-one S-LAB positions had a designation of absence at the time of retrieval, while fifteen had a designation of high availability. The list of strains under this brand is therefore a list of what is available in circulation, not what is currently in every pharmacy.

What is known, and what is not known about S-LAB raw material?

Little is known from the documentation, and these are formal matters: registered name, form of the raw material, package size, declared potency, dispensing category, and responsible entity. Everything concerning the strain, cultivation, and terpene composition comes from unregistered sources. We did not find an analysis certificate for a single batch in open access.

We checked how many of these thirty-eight strains have a terpene profile confirmed by more than one source. Two. Eight have conflicting descriptions between two databases, and twenty-eight are described by only one database. The genetics show a similar pattern: twelve consistent descriptions, twelve conflicting, fourteen from one source. Therefore, we do not provide percentage shares for terpene names on these pages.

Marketing material and patient reports are a separate layer in this collection. Descriptions of aroma, declarations of effects, and comparisons of potency circulate in catalogs without stating the measurement method. Pharmacist Bartłomiej Zalewa submitted four S-LAB strains to the Cannalabs laboratory in 2023, but the article from April 20, 2023, does not cite any numbers and refers to video material, so we do not consider this study as data.

Two things can easily be confused: pharmacy raw material dispensed by prescription is not the same as dried flower from retail sales, which has its own category in our store own category and medical marijuana has nothing in common except for the plant species.

What side effects have been reported after S-LAB dried flower?

Separately for this brand, nothing has been reported that would be publicly available. Polish safety compilations do not break down reports into individual registrations or strains, so there are simply no statistics for the dried flower of this brand. What remains is what is known about hemp dried flower as a group of raw materials.

Reports of adverse effects are collected for medicinal products with a batch number, not for the strain name, so the following pertains to hemp dried flower as a group of raw materials. The most frequently reported symptoms are dry mouth, red eyes, and increased heart rate. Dizziness upon rapid standing, daytime drowsiness, and temporary worsening of short-term memory are less frequently described, as well as anxiety that increases with dosage. A separate issue is medications taken concurrently, especially sedatives and those affecting coagulation: their assessment requires knowledge of the entire list of preparations, not just the description of the plant. We do not provide the frequency of these symptoms numerically, as public compilations for hemp dried flower in Poland do not separate them by individual products.

One thing is specific to this brand. Since the batch number carries the strain code, a report assigned to a batch can be traced back to a specific cultivar, which cannot be done with just the registered name. The condition is that the batch number is included in the report, so a patient who wants to report something should keep the packaging label.
