What is Pink Kush and why is its lineage uncertain?

Pink Kush is a cultivar classified as indica, available in Polish pharmacies in eight entries from five manufacturers. We do not know its lineage: in the pedigree graph of this project, the strain has an undefined value because the breeder did not disclose the parents, and the available descriptions do not consistently indicate them. The name does not clarify anything here.

A common term in the name is often taken as evidence of kinship, but it never is. The word kush carries ten names in this cluster: for five, the parents are described in sources, while for the other five, including Pink Kush, they are not mentioned at all. Blood Orange Kush descends from lemon kush crossed with guava kush, and Afghan Kush has no confirmed origin, although both names carry the same component.

Both Polish services from which we collected records consistently classify this strain as indica. Three nominal potency values are listed for different entries, and manufacturers are allowed to deviate by ten percent in either direction, as that is the permissible tolerance. When added, the declared THC is 16.2-24.2%, and only such a record reflects what the register actually states; a single number on the label suggests precision that is not present.

Which manufacturers supply Pink Kush to Polish pharmacies?

Five. Versions signed by Aurora, Polfarmex, S-LAB, Synoptis Pharma, and Tilray reach pharmacies, totaling eight registered entries. The versions differ not in the plant itself, but in what has been recorded about it: profile description, set of aroma markers, and declared potency for a given entry.

The composition of this list is variable. The permit for the raw material to be traded expires after five years and can be revoked earlier, and the wholesaler may fail to deliver a batch for an entire quarter. In the same register, entries marked as withdrawn stand next to entries with high availability, sometimes from the same manufacturer. Therefore, the summary above describes the state of the record, not a guarantee that each of these versions can be realized today in a pharmacy. We maintain the current state of the assortment exclusively in the list of strains available in Polish pharmacies.

Differences between versions are differences in records, not declared quality. The same cultivar described by two databases may receive four profile components once and seven another time, depending on which registered entry was described and what the editor had at their disposal. For the Polfarmex entry, the database does not even provide tolerance for the nominal value, although it routinely provides it for the others.

How does Pink Kush smell and taste?

Descriptions in Polish databases converge on a peppery and spicy note, with a camphor-like coolness in the background. The Aurora version additionally features a rose and woody tone, while one of the S-LAB entries is earthy. None of these descriptions are measurements, but rather editorial labels added to the entry.

The name suggests rose, and only one of the five descriptions mentions it, which illustrates how much weight such markers carry. No one has measured them with a chromatograph for a specific batch; these are words added to the registry entry, later repeated by subsequent services. A batch from the same grow can smell different after a different drying season, and a patient opening a jar compares the scent with a description that was created with a completely different delivery.

The core profile, which both sources agree on, includes bisabolol, humulene, caryophyllene, and nerolidol. Pepperiness in descriptions usually goes hand in hand with kariofilenem, a cool herbal note with humulenem, and a mild floral tone with bisabololem. This is a descriptive correspondence, not an assignment of scent to a molecule measured in this batch of dried flower.

The form being discussed here is pharmaceutical dried flower, not an extract, tincture, or product from the hemp shelf in the store.. The aroma can only be assessed before administration, so these markers refer to the raw material in the jar, not to what happens after administration.

How long does it take for Pink Kush to take effect and how long does the effect last?

It depends on the method of administration, not the cultivar. After inhalation, the onset can be felt during the session, within a few seconds; the peak occurs roughly between fifteen and thirty minutes, and the overall effect fades after two to three hours. The oral route delays the onset and prolongs the duration.

The numbers in the table come from a review of the pharmacokinetics of cannabinoids published by Franjo Grotenhermen in 2003, which remains the most frequently cited compilation of these values. They pertain to THC administered via inhalation or orally in humans. No one has measured them on Pink Kush or any other single cultivar, as such studies are not conducted.

The difference between routes of administration comes from what happens to the substance before it enters the bloodstream. With inhalation, it goes directly from the lung alveoli into the blood, so the patient feels the onset of action before they can put down the device. After ingestion, the same dose travels first through the intestine and liver, where a significant portion is converted into another compound that acts more strongly on the central nervous system and lasts longer.

This leads to one thing that should not be confused with a recommendation: the same dose spread over twelve hours and the same dose concentrated in two hours are two different situations. The method of administration is determined by the attending physician, as they prescribe the specific form and method of use.

What is known, and what is not known about the effects of Pink Kush?

There is not a single clinical study conducted on this strain. What can be said pertains to individual components of its profile, studied separately and on rodents. The rest, along with the label of relaxing effects, comes from database materials and patient reports, not from research.

The two Polish services from which we collected descriptions differ in the composition of this profile: limonene, linalool, and myrcene are present only in one of them, with the Aurora entry. The common core of both records is narrower and includes bisabolol, humulene, caryophyllene, and nerolidol. We do not provide percentage shares because the sums published by these databases for the same entries do not add up to one hundred and refer to different denominators each time.

Nerolidol, indicated as the leading component in seven of the eight entries of this strain, has two studies in the evidence base of this project. Both on mice. Fonsêca and colleagues (Fundamental & Clinical Pharmacology, 2016, PMID:26791997) administered 200-400 mg/kg to the animals and noted fewer pain responses in the acetic acid test and lower concentrations of two inflammatory cytokines; they associated the analgesic effect with the GABA system, not with opioid receptors. Hojjat and colleagues (Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria, 2026, PMID:42447923) administered 25-100 mg/kg orally and achieved a longer time to seizure induced by pentylene tetrazole and weaker markers of oxidative stress in the brain.

It has not been shown that nerolidol alleviates anxiety or insomnia in humans; both available studies concern rodents and describe analgesic, anticonvulsant, and antioxidant effects, not sleep or mood.

The remaining layer of description is based on something entirely different. The word relaxing appears in databases as a label attached to the registration entry, and no measurement stands behind it; patient statements report individual courses, without a control group and without blinding. We intentionally separate both registers because the sentence stitching them together suggests evidence where there is merely an impression. What side effects have been reported after Pink Kush?

None attributed to this strain. The pharmacotherapy safety supervision collects reports at the level of raw material and manufacturer, not cultivar, so there is no compilation providing the frequency of any symptom specifically for Pink Kush. The numbers circulating in strain descriptions do not have such a source, and no one has counted them.

At the level of the raw material itself, the documentation is extensive. It repeatedly mentions drowsiness, dry mucous membranes of the mouth, palpitations, dizziness upon standing, and anxiety increasing after higher doses. However, this set cannot be attributed specifically to this strain: it comes from observations of inhaled and oral administration of preparations with very different compositions, in populations that had no contact with Pink Kush.

The issue of frequency stands separately. Even for the raw material, the numbers depend on whom you ask: in randomized studies, the percentage of people reporting any adverse event can be many times higher than in spontaneous reports, because the study participant is asked directly about it, while the patient at the pharmacy is not. For a single cultivar, such data is not available in either of these two streams.

Caution works both ways: the lack of reports for Pink Kush does not mean that the strain is milder than others. It only means that no one has collected data at that level. Adverse events are reported to the attending physician and to national supervision, regardless of which version of the preparation was issued.

Can Pink Kush be vaporized under its leading component?

This cannot be done in a way that could be defended by numbers. For nerolidol, the public database PubChem has one boiling point entry, 275-277 degrees, and does not provide the pressure at which it was measured. Without pressure, such a number cannot be compared to any other.

This lack does not only concern nerolidol. Among the eleven profile components that this project deals with, PubChem provides boiling point along with pressure for six: caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, myrcene, pinene, and terpinolene. Humulene has only a measurement under reduced pressure, 99-100 degrees at 3 mm Hg, which is under conditions close to vacuum. Bisabolol and farnesene have no values in the database. Tables circulating on the internet compile these entries in one column as if they were comparable.

Additionally, there is a misunderstanding underlying the entire idea of targeting a single component. Vaporization does not occur at the boiling point; it happens much lower, and its rate increases smoothly with temperature, without a threshold. The boiling point is the temperature at which the vapor pressure equals the surrounding pressure, and nothing more. We do not derive any practical recommendation from this and do not provide any range as appropriate. The temperature set on the device is not the temperature of the dried flower, as the material cools with the airflow during inhalation and heats unevenly. The method of administration is determined by the attending physician, and the raw material is issued only with a doctor's prescription in the Rpw category.

Which strains are related to Pink Kush?

None whose relationship could be demonstrated. The pedigree graph of this project derives siblings solely from common, identified parents, and the parents of Pink Kush remain undetermined. Without them, there is no basis for calculating relationships, so the list of related strains is empty in this assignment and is to remain so.

An empty list can also be a correct result where the pedigree is known. The parent can be a landrace or a broad family style such as Afghani or OG Kush, and these are categories, not individual strains that can be pointed out. Two cultivars sharing only such an ancestor do not become siblings because of that. With Pink Kush, we do not even have that: the pedigree itself is undetermined, not just its resolution.

The undetermined origin has twenty-five cultivars in this cluster out of eighty-five, so this strain is not an exception in this regard. This is not a gap in the data, but a state of the market: some breeders have never disclosed their crosses, and some plants have entered circulation under a commercial name assigned after the fact. Adding parents based solely on the name would create connections in the graph that no one has confirmed, and these would then return as alleged siblings.

Instead of kinship, we propose comparisons. Pink Kush enters one comparison of this cluster: with Gorilla Glue. We do not compare it separately with Galaxy Walker OG, Island Sweet Skunk, and Master Kush, although the profiles may be similar. The reason lies with the data: these three strains are produced by S-LAB, Synoptis Pharma, and Tilray, while Pink Kush is produced by the same three manufacturers and also Aurora with Polfarmex. Anyone supplying those entries also supplies this one, so the manufacturer axis does not separate these pairs and they have only one difference, which is too little for a separate text.
