In this study, mice were administered nerolidol at doses of 200-400 mg/kg, after which abdominal contractions were counted in the acetic acid test: there were fewer, and the concentrations of two inflammatory proteins, IL-1beta and TNF-alpha, also decreased in the tissues. The observed analgesic effect was attributed more to GABA signaling than to opioid receptors. The second, from 2026, was published by Hojjat et al. in the journal "Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria" (PMID:42447923): there, the mouse received nerolidol orally at doses of 25-100 mg/kg and required more time before pentylene tetrazole induced seizures, with lower brain markers of oxidative stress.
It has not been shown that nerolidol alleviates anxiety or insomnia in humans; both available studies concern rodents and describe analgesic, anticonvulsant, and antioxidant effects, not sleep or mood.
