Who produces X-Max and what are the X HERO editions?
X-Max V3 Pro, V4 Pro and Starry 4 are produced by Topgreen US Corporation, a company operating according to its own website since 2000 and owner of the XMAX and XVAPE brands (Topgreen). Why two names? In the USA, Starry 4 is sold as XVAPE Starry 4, priced at 99 USD (XVAPE USA), and Polish stores describe the same model also as X-Max Starry 4.
In the store at u Bucha, these models appear as “X HERO Limited Edition” editions. These are editions of the base devices from Topgreen, and the data in this text refer to the base models. Prices from October 2026:
- X-Max V3 PRO+ X HERO in Plus / Plus Blue / Peri V3 versions: 374-409 PLN,
- X-Max V4 PRO X HERO in black / Blue / Peri V4 versions: 499 PLN,
- X-Max Starry 4.0 HERO Green: 399 PLN.
The name PRO+ has a specific meaning. Topgreen does not list a “V3 Pro+” model in its offer, only V3 Pro (Topgreen offer). On the Polish market, PRO+ is the V3 Pro set with a magnetic glass mouthpiece and a steel screen. For the V4 PRO and Starry 4.0 editions, sources do not describe technical changes compared to the base models, so the text describes them as V4 Pro and Starry 4.
You can find all editions in the vaporizers category. You can also see and discuss X-Max in HERO editions with the staff at three stores at u Bucha in Warsaw.
How does X-Max heat: convection or conduction?
Topgreen describes V3 Pro and V4 Pro as “pure convection”, meaning pure convection, with a maximum of 220 °C (V3 Pro, V4 Pro). Heating takes about 10 seconds in both models, no longer than 20. The heating type for Starry 4 is not provided by the manufacturer in the data collected for this text.
What is the difference? In convection, the herb is heated by hot air flowing through the chamber. In conduction, the herb heats up from the walls of the chamber, and hybrid combines both methods. A comparison of the three types can be found in the post on convection, conduction, or hybrid vaporizers.
How the device vaporizes is also influenced by the way it is used. The manufacturer recommends fine grinding, loosely packing the herb, starting at a low temperature, and slow inhalations (Topgreen). These tips are provided on the V3 Pro support page.
According to the product page, V4 Pro has an insulated air path and adjustable flow (Topgreen). Starry 4 has an air flow slider and a ceramic chamber, while V3 Pro has a steel chamber with a ceramic air flow housing. Starry 4 also needs more time: about 20 seconds to readiness and about 30 to 240 °C (Topgreen).
Which X-Max to choose: V3 Pro, V4 Pro or Starry 4?
The choice mainly depends on whether you want on-demand mode and what maximum temperature you need. V3 Pro is cheaper at Topgreen than V4 Pro by 20 USD (109 vs 129 USD), and Topgreen states the same heating parameters for both (V3 Pro, V4 Pro). Starry 4 costs 99 USD (XVAPE USA) and has a session timer of up to 10 minutes (Topgreen). The manufacturer does not mention on-demand mode for Starry 4.
- V3 Pro and the V3 PRO+ edition are suitable for someone looking for a simple model with sessions of 4 or 6 minutes and on-demand mode. It weighs 105 g (iFixit).
- V4 Pro has the same heating parameters, plus adjustable air flow and a mouthpiece made of glass or ABS. It suits someone who wants to influence the draw resistance.
- Starry 4 has the highest maximum, 240 °C, and the longest timer. It heats up longer, about 20-30 seconds, and a review by Dab Connection describes strong heating of the housing during operation (Dab Connection, 2023).
Is V4 Pro a big step up from V3 Pro? The V4 Pro support page repeats almost all the numbers from the V3 Pro page, including the description of the buttons (Topgreen). On the manufacturer’s pages, the models differ in equipment. V4 Pro has an insulated air path and adjustable flow, a mouthpiece made of glass or ABS instead of PC and ABS, and a steel air flow housing instead of ceramic in V3 Pro.

How to use X-Max V3 Pro and V4 Pro for the first time?
Before the first use, charge V3 Pro for over 6 hours, then turn it on with three clicks of the power button (Topgreen). V4 Pro has the same buttons according to the manufacturer (Topgreen). You change the temperature with the plus and minus buttons, in V3 Pro every 1 °C, and heating takes about 10 seconds, no longer than 20.
- Charge the device. You charge V3 Pro via USB-C: the first charge takes over 6 hours, subsequent ones with a 5V/1A power supply take about 3 hours. For V4 Pro, the manufacturer does not provide charging time.
- Grind the herb finely and loosely pack it into the chamber, without overfilling. This is what the manufacturer recommends.
- Turn on the device with three clicks of the power button.
- Select the mode: pressing plus and minus simultaneously switches between session and on-demand mode.
- In session mode, press power and plus to select a session of 4 or 6 minutes. Power and minus switch the scale between °C and °F.
- Set the temperature from the bottom of the range and wait for the device to heat up.
- Inhale slowly. The manufacturer recommends slow, calm breaths.
In on-demand mode, heating starts when you hold the power button until the device vibrates. After 30 seconds of inactivity, V3 Pro goes into standby, and after another 120 seconds, it turns off. This mode is suitable for short uses, while the session is for longer sessions.
The first session is worth treating as a trial of settings, not a power test. A small amount of herb and a low temperature will show how the device reacts before you start changing several things at once.
How to operate Starry 4 and can it be used while charging?
Do not use Starry 4 while charging: the manufacturer advises against it (Topgreen, Starry 4 support page). Charging via USB-C with a 5V/1A power supply takes about 3 hours, the first charge takes over 6 hours. You turn on the device with three clicks, it needs about 20 seconds to be ready, and about 30 seconds to reach 240 °C.
The remaining functions are operated with button combinations held for 2 seconds:
- power and plus change the timer: 4, 6 or 10 minutes,
- power and minus switch the scale between °C and °F,
- up and down simultaneously rotate the OLED screen.
Charge the device when you are not using it, and disconnect the cable before the session.
The chamber has about 1.35 ml according to Topgreen with dimensions of 17.9 × 8.8 × 11 mm (Topgreen). The manufacturer does not convert this volume to grams, and the weight of the load depends on the grinding, so the text does not provide it. A review by Dab Connection from April 2023 points out two things: the housing heats up significantly after about 5 minutes, and the concentrate chamber is difficult to remove (Dab Connection). Are you choosing a 10-minute timer? Keep in mind that the second half of the session will coincide with the time when the housing is already significantly heated.
What temperature to set in X-Max to start?
Topgreen does not provide a single starting temperature. It recommends starting low and gradually increasing it, with finely ground and loosely packed herb (Topgreen). You have a range up to 220 °C in V3 Pro and V4 Pro and up to 240 °C in Starry 4 (Topgreen), with V3 Pro adjustable every 1 °C.
So where to start? Specific values for different effects are collected in the post vaporization temperature: what to set and why. Before you read it, remember one thing: the number on the screen is the device setting, not the temperature of the herb itself. The difference is explained in the post on vaporizer settings vs herb temperature.
A higher maximum in Starry 4 does not mean you have to use it. It is a reserve, not a recommendation from the manufacturer. With each of the three models, change the temperature in small steps and observe the taste and density of the vapor. In Starry 4, each change requires longer waiting: the manufacturer states about 30 seconds to 240 °C, and for V3 Pro about 10 seconds.
The preparation of the herb also affects the result. The manufacturer recommends fine grinding and not overfilling the chamber, so a grinder will be useful. You can find grinders in the grinders category.
How to clean X-Max V3 Pro, V4 Pro and Starry 4?
Topgreen shows cleaning V3 Pro only in a video on the support page, without a written step-by-step instruction (Topgreen). What exactly do you clean? In V3 Pro, the chamber and screen are steel, and the air flow housing is ceramic; the mouthpiece is made of PC and ABS. The ceramic chamber of Starry 4 has about 1.35 ml (Topgreen). The PRO+ set adds a glass mouthpiece and a steel screen, which means two more parts to wash.
In V4 Pro, the chamber with the screen and the air flow housing are made of steel, and the mouthpiece is made of glass or ABS (Topgreen). The mouthpiece of Starry 4 is made of zirconia or ceramic. According to a review by Dab Connection, the concentrate chamber in Starry 4 is difficult to remove (Dab Connection, 2023), so do it carefully and only after the device has cooled down.
General cleaning rules for vaporizers, including the selection of agents for different materials, are described in the vaporizer cleaning guide. Before you start, turn off the device and wait for the chamber to cool down. This rule applies to each of the three models. With Starry 4, it is particularly important because, according to a review by Dab Connection, its housing heats up significantly during operation.
What to do if X-Max does not charge, turns off, or vaporizes poorly?
Some symptoms that look like a malfunction result from settings described in the manufacturer’s manual. V3 Pro will not accept charging from a power supply stronger than 5V/2A, and automatic shutdown in on-demand mode is designed: standby after 30 seconds, shutdown after another 120 (Topgreen). The table collects symptoms, what sources say about them, and what you can check.
| Symptom | What sources say | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| V3 Pro does not charge | charging block above 5V/2A (Topgreen) | 5V/1A power supply, charging about 3 h |
| Turns off by itself | on-demand mode: standby after 30 s, shutdown after another 120 s (Topgreen) | hold power until it vibrates or switch to session |
| Weak vapor | manufacturer’s recommendations: fine grinding, loose packing | grind finer, pack looser, gradually increase temperature |
| V3 Pro works shorter on battery | the cell has about 350 cycles according to the manufacturer; after they are used up, the battery lasts shorter | the cell is replaceable |
| Starry 4 heats up significantly | the housing heats up significantly during operation (Dab Connection, 2023) | shorter timer, 4 or 6 min |
| Starry 4 on the charger | the manufacturer advises against use while charging | use only after charging is complete |
On one charge, V3 Pro lasts according to the manufacturer for at least 12 sessions of 6 minutes at maximum temperature (Topgreen, V3 Pro support page). This number applies to V3 Pro. What if it comes out significantly less? When the cell has gone through hundreds of cycles, replacing it makes sense, because in V3 Pro it is a standard, replaceable 18650 cell. With concentrates, V3 Pro performed poorly in a review by Dab Connection from January 2022, so weak vapor from wax does not necessarily indicate a malfunction.
