Arizer Solo III and Air MAX: how to use and clean the glass step by step

Arizer Solo III and Air MAX step by step: filling the glass tube, temperature, charging, cleaning, and recall of Solo III according to Arizer and CPSC.

Arizer Solo 3 (Solo III) heats up according to the manufacturer in 5-15 seconds, and Air MAX in less than a minute. In both Canadian vaporizers, vapor flows through borosilicate glass. The glass tube serves as both the chamber and mouthpiece. The models differ in controls, modes, and battery: Solo III has a built-in battery that you cannot replace yourself, while Air MAX has a removable one. In June 2026, a market recall affected some units of Solo III in Intergalactic/Black color (CPSC, Health Canada). Arizer does not publish PDF instructions, so this guide collects steps from the manufacturer’s support pages and official announcements, without personal testing. You will learn how to go through the first session, how to clean the glass, and how to check the serial number of your Solo III.

KEY INFORMATION
• Solo III heats up in 5-15 s, Air MAX in less than 60 s (Arizer).
• Before the first session, burn in the device at 220 °C for 5-10 minutes.
• The Solo III v2.0 battery is not replaceable, Air MAX has a removable 26650 battery.
• The recall concerns Solo III Intergalactic/Black with eight serial number prefixes (CPSC 26-565).

How to use Arizer Solo 3 and Air MAX step by step?

The session in both devices proceeds similarly: you fill the glass tube, insert it into the heater, turn on the device, and inhale through the same tube. This is how Arizer’s support pages describe it. Solo III heats up in 5-15 seconds, and Air MAX in less than 60 seconds. The differences mainly concern buttons, modes, and readiness signals.

Step Solo III Air MAX What to watch out for
1. Charging charge fully (factory charges to 80%: hold the up arrow), approx. 3 h charge fully, approx. 3 h Solo III defaults to ending charging at 80% (Eco Charging)
2. Inspection check the glass and parts for cracks same borosilicate glass can crack
3. Burn-in 220 °C for 5-10 min 220 °C for 5-10 min removes packing residues
4. Filling coarsely ground herb in XL or Air/Solo tube, 1-2 mm of free space 70 mm tube, herb lightly packed, 1-2 mm of free space do not pack tightly; no oils or liquids
5. Turning on hold M for 3 s, unlock with arrows: left, up, right M and plus (Normal mode) or M and minus (Dark mode) unlock hint is engraved on the bottom of Solo III
6. Temperature arrows: short for 1°, hold for 10° 50-220 °C, step 1° or 10° Arizer does not provide a general range for Solo III
7. Readiness 5-15 s; in On Demand all bars yellow below 60 s; two beeps Air MAX time measured at 220 °C and full battery
8. Inhale through the tube, which is also the mouthpiece same the matte tube 14 mm is used for the bubbler
9. End press M until the Bye message appears turns off by itself after 5-15 min, defaults to 10 put a silicone cap on hot glass

The table combines the support pages of both models with Arizer’s tips about glass. What is missing in it? The manufacturer does not provide the herb portion in grams or inhalation technique for Air MAX, so those steps are not included here.

What to do before the first use of Solo III and Air MAX?

Before the first session, Arizer instructs to charge the battery fully, inspect parts for cracks, and burn in the device at 220 °C for 5-10 minutes. The burn-in removes packing residues. The same steps are provided by the support pages for both Solo III and Air MAX. The contents of the box according to the manufacturer:

  • Solo III: device, manual, USB-C charger (5 V, 3 A), XL 90 mm tube, matte XL 14 mm tube, Air/Solo 90 mm tube, matte Air/Solo 14 mm tube, 4 silicone caps, 4 transport tubes made of PVC (2 x 90 mm, 2 x 70 mm), stainless steel stir stick, 4 steel screens.
  • Air MAX: device, battery, USB-C charger, 70 mm tube, matte 14 mm tube, glass bowl (aroma dish), 2 silicone caps, transport tubes made of PVC, stir stick, 4 screens, herb sample, manual.

If the tube fits too tightly into the heater? Arizer advises setting 200 °C, heating the device for 1-2 minutes, and trying again. Do not force the glass. The manufacturer reminds that any borosilicate glass can break. Inspect the tube that has fallen for cracks and chips.

Safety rules are common for both models. Always use heat-resistant silicone caps on hot glass. Store the device in a bag or pocket only after it has cooled down. Arizer advises against leaving the vaporizer on unattended and instructs to keep it away from children and pets. Use only original batteries and chargers. The Solo III page adds that the device is not a medical product.

How to fill the Arizer glass tube and how much herb fits?

You fill the tube with coarsely ground herb. Arizer advises to pour it into a small container and press the tube into it with a slight twist. You can also fill the tube manually with ground herb or small flowers. Lightly pack the herb and leave 1-2 mm of free space (Arizer). The manufacturer advises against excessive packing and tight filling.

How many grams is that? Arizer does not provide this for any tube. The Solo III page only states that the XL tubes hold twice as much as the regular Air/Solo tubes. The Air MAX page does not have separate filling tips. General Arizer advice allows whole or ground herb, lightly packed, with the same 1-2 mm looseness. The same advice prohibits oils and liquids. For coarse grinding, a regular herb grinder is sufficient, and you can find various models in the grinders category.

The glass of both models is partially shared. According to Arizer’s accessory pages, it looks like this:

  • Air/Solo tubes fit Solo III and Air MAX, as well as older Air, Air II, Air SE, Solo, Solo II, and Solo II MAX. These are straight tubes (110, 90, or 70 mm), bent, tipped (70 or 60 mm), and matte (14 or 19 mm).
  • The XL 90 mm tube and matte XL 14 mm tube fit only Solo III.
  • The glass bowl (aroma dish) fits only Air MAX.
  • The spare mouthpiece tip fits only the tipped tubes.
  • The matte adapter changes the 19 mm joint to 14 mm.

How to use the bowl in Air MAX, Arizer does not describe on the support pages, so this guide does not include that step.

How to turn on Solo III and Air MAX and set the temperature?

You turn on Solo III with the M button: hold it for 3 seconds, then unlock the device with the arrows left, up, right. A hint of this order is engraved on the bottom (Arizer). The up and down arrows change the temperature by 1° with a short press and by 10° when held. You turn off the device by pressing M until the Bye message appears.

Solo III has two modes. In session mode (Session), it heats continuously and remembers 3 of its own settings. In on-demand mode (On Demand), the up arrow heats the device to the temperature of the setting, and the down arrow interrupts heating. The On Demand setting saves the temperature and heating time, defaulting to 10 seconds. Holding the left arrow opens the mode selection, and holding the right arrow opens the settings. Double pressing M shows the settings.

What is the temperature range of Solo III? Arizer does not provide it. The device’s page only lists ranges for specific herbs, for example, 100-125 °C for lavender. Review values vary and are not confirmed by the manufacturer, so this guide does not provide them.

Air MAX can be turned on in two ways. Holding M and plus activates Normal mode with an OLED screen and all settings. Holding M and minus activates Dark mode, where only dimmed icons in the corner light up. The delay in turning on is 2, 4, 6, or 8 seconds, defaulting to 6 s in Normal mode and 4 s in Dark mode. You can change the mode during operation by holding M and the down button for 2 seconds. The range for Air MAX is 50-220 °C, with a step of 1° or 10° (Arizer). In Dark mode, the device starts at 200 °C.

From what temperature to start and how to raise it later is explained in the guide vaporization temperature: what to set and why.

How to inhale and when does the device turn off by itself?

You inhale through the glass tube, which is also the mouthpiece in both models. For Solo III, Arizer describes two methods: short inhales in On Demand mode or longer inhales through a bubbler. The inhalation techniques for Air MAX are not provided by the manufacturer on the support pages.

How do you know that Solo III is ready in On Demand mode? The bars on the screen turn yellow during heating. When all are yellow, you can start. White bars count down the heating time, and gray ones indicate cooling. When all are gray, vapor stops flowing. Air MAX signals readiness with two beeps, which have 3 volume levels or can be turned off. In Dark mode, readiness is indicated by a triangle icon, and heating by a plus icon.

For a bubbler or water pipe, both models come with a matte 14 mm tube in the box. The order according to Arizer is simple. Fill the tube and heat the device. Then turn it upside down, insert the tube into the 14 mm joint, and inhale. The screen of both models rotates automatically, and in Solo III, you can also set this manually. A higher temperature gives denser vapor according to the manufacturer. How much water to pour, Arizer does not specify.

Solo III turns off by itself after 5-20 minutes in session mode, with a step of 1 minute. In On Demand mode, this time is 5-60 minutes, with a step of 5 or 10 minutes. Pressing M during the session (+5 MIN) adds 5 minutes without changing the saved setting. Air MAX turns off after 5-15 minutes, defaulting to 10. Leave the chamber and glass to cool down before storing the device.

How to charge Solo III and Air MAX and is the battery replaceable?

Solo III charges fully in about 3 hours via USB-C PD and works for about 3 hours on a single charge (Arizer). The product page mentions 3 hours in session mode or over 100 inhales in On Demand mode. Air MAX works for about 2 hours and 15 minutes and charges in about 3 hours.

Solo III defaults to ending charging at 80% (Eco Charging). Want 100%? Hold the up arrow while the device is connected to the charger. On a completely empty battery, Solo III will not start. You can use it while plugged in after 5-10 minutes of charging, but full charging takes longer then. Charging stops below 3 °C and above 48 °C. If you set the device aside for more than a month, leave the battery charged to about half.

You cannot replace the Solo III v2.0 battery yourself. Arizer states directly that it is not intended for user replacement, and service is conducted through service@arizer.com. Air MAX has a removable 26650 battery. With the included 5 V/2 A charger, it reaches 90% in 2 hours, and can work while plugged in after 15-20 minutes of charging. The manufacturer allows only original Air MAX batteries. The replacement process according to Arizer looks like this:

  1. Hold the device securely in your hand.
  2. Unscrew the bottom cover and be careful not to let the battery slip out.
  3. Insert the new battery so that the end marked with a plus goes in first.
  4. Screw the cover back on.

Do not store the Air MAX battery fully charged or completely empty for more than a month.

How to clean Arizer glass and does the device need washing?

You clean Arizer glass with isopropyl alcohol: soak the tubes, rinse them with water, and dry thoroughly before use. However, Arizer’s sites differ in soaking time. The support pages for Solo III and Air MAX mention several hours, while the manufacturer’s tips page states at least 30 minutes in 99% alcohol.

Arizer Page Soaking Then
Solo III and Air MAX support isopropyl alcohol, several hours rinse with hot water, repeat if necessary, dry completely
cleaning tips 99% isopropyl alcohol, at least 30 minutes rinse with warm water or dishwasher (cutlery basket), dry thoroughly
Air MAX product page 99% alcohol, time not specified bottle brush

Which time to choose? The manufacturer does not decide this. In our opinion, soaking for several hours fits both recommendations, as the lower limit of 30 minutes does not exclude it. Do not put hot glass into cold water and avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not tap the tube against hard surfaces. None of Arizer’s pages mention boiling glass in water, so this guide does not recommend that method.

The device itself, according to Arizer, practically requires no cleaning. Wipe the casing with a dry microfiber cloth. The tips page advises heating the chamber of portable models at the highest temperature for 10 minutes. Then turn off the device, loosen any residues with the stir stick, turn it upside down, and gently shake it. Finally, wait for it to cool down. Do not immerse the device in water and do not open it, as this poses a risk of electric shock and voids the warranty. The cleaning agents and rules for other devices are described in the guide cleaning the vaporizer: how and with what.
