Palacio CBD Calidum - warming massage gel 200 ml

Calidum is the warming version of the Palacio hemp massage gel, in a 200 ml tube. The warmth is provided by Capsicum Frutescens Resin, which is listed right after hemp seed oil and cannabidiol in the INCI list, meaning it is very high up. This is the entire difference between this variant and the cooling one: instead of menthol and camphor, a sharp plant extract works here, and the sensation builds up slowly and lasts longer than the massage itself. Additionally, the formula is common for the entire line - seven herbal extracts from birch, yarrow, horsetail, nettle, rosemary, sage, and lime, plus sunflower oil as the second fatty phase. The manufacturer declares dermatological testing and specifies that the product is not intended for children under 3 years of age. Read the instructions from the packaging before the first use, as half of its content consists of warnings.

Ingredients

The INCI list published for this variant, in the order from the manufacturer’s card:

  • Aqua - gel base
  • Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil - hemp seed oil
  • Cannabidiol - hemp ingredient listed without a specified amount
  • Capsicum Frutescens Resin - resin from pepper, source of heat
  • Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil and Glyceryl Oleate - fatty phase
  • Cannabis Sativa Seed Extract - extract from hemp seeds
  • Betula Alba, Achillea Millefolium, Equisetum Arvense, Urtica Dioica, Rosmarinus Officinalis, Salvia Officinalis, Tilia Platyphyllos - seven herbal extracts
  • Glycerin, Carbomer, Triethanolamine, Sodium Chloride - consistency
  • Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol - preservation
  • Fragrance with allergens: Cinnamal, Coumarin, Eugenol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Limonene, Linalool
  • CI 16255 - dye

Capsicum resin is an ingredient worth understanding before the first use, as it behaves differently than menthol. The coolness from menthol appears immediately and disappears quickly; the heat from pepper builds up over several minutes and can last long after you finish the massage. Hence, there are two practical rules, both directly from the manufacturer’s instructions: do not apply the gel to mucous membranes, damaged skin, or around the eyes and mouth, and wash your hands thoroughly after application - transferring the product to the eye with your fingers is the main risk here. It is also advisable to start with a small amount and check your own tolerance before spreading the gel over a large area. The fragrance composition contains cinnamal, eugenol, and limonene, so if you are prone to reactions to scents, testing on a small patch of skin is wiser than being brave. The rest of the formula is a calm, herbal base common for the entire line (seven extracts, hemp seed oil, and sunflower oil), so by purchasing Calidum, you are adding one ingredient responsible for heat to a known base.

How to use

The manufacturer’s instructions, broken down into steps:

  • Massage the warming gel into the skin of the chosen area
  • Start with a small amount and check your own tolerance
  • Never apply the gel to mucous membranes and damaged skin
  • Do not bring the product close to the eyes and mouth
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after application

Two situations are worth avoiding: a hot bath immediately after application and covering the treated area with tight thermal clothing. Both amplify the sensation of heat in a way that is difficult to reverse - and the pepper gel does not wash off with water as easily as one would like. If you feel too much burning, it is more effective to wipe the product off with a greasy tissue than to pour water on the skin.

For whom

The warming variant is aimed at those who enjoy warmth before exercise or on cold days - on the neck, shoulders, back, after long sitting at a desk. If you have previously used warming ointments and know that you tolerate them well, this profile will be familiar; if not, start with a very small portion, as pepper resin can be demanding on the skin. This is not a product for irritated, dry, or damaged skin nor for children under 3 years of age. It is a massage product for a chosen area, and for daily application on entire legs or arms, a regular balm is more suitable. For those who do not tolerate sharp ingredients well but want the same hemp base, we recommend the cooling variant or the neutral one from the same family. The herbal and hemp base is identical in them; only the ingredient responsible for the sensation on the skin changes.

Frequently asked questions

What is responsible for the warming effect?

The resin from pepper, listed in the INCI as Capsicum Frutescens Resin. It is high on the ingredient list, right after hemp seed oil and cannabidiol - before the fatty phase and before the seven herbal extracts that are common for the entire line. Along with it stands the entire block of warnings from the manufacturer: no mucous membranes, no damaged skin, with thorough hand washing after application.

Can I use the gel before training?

The manufacturer’s instructions boil down to massaging the product into the chosen area, so you choose the timing of use yourself. In practice, warming variants are often used before activity, and cooling ones after. If you plan to train in tight thermal clothing, the sensation of heat may be stronger than you expect.

What to do if the gel burns too much?

Wipe it off with a greasy tissue or a bit of cooking oil, and only then wash the skin with soap and water. Water alone does not cope well with pepper resin and can temporarily intensify the sensation. Do not apply another portion to the same area and do not cover it with an occlusive dressing.

Does this variant differ in composition from the cooling one?

Yes. The herbal and hemp base is common for the entire line, but the ingredient responsible for the sensation is different: here it is pepper resin, in the cooling variant menthol with peppermint oil. The fragrance composition and dye also differ. The volume and purpose remain the same.
