The difference is not just about convenience. Sublingual oil can absorb some of the substance through the mucous membrane before it reaches the stomach. Therefore, when it comes to hemp drinks, the question of emulsification technology is more significant than with oils.

How to read a hemp shot label?
The label says much more than the name on the front of the bottle; you just need to know where to look. The conversion that can be calculated independently is the price divided by the declared content in milligrams. For items that provide this number in the name, it comes out immediately at the cart. For the others, it does not come out at all, and that is an honest answer: for most Green Out variants, such a conversion cannot be calculated because the manufacturer does not declare milligrams in the item description.

What to look for when choosing your first shot?
Order matters. Beginners often first look at taste and price, and it makes sense to resolve these two criteria at the end when you already know you are comparing comparable bottles.
- Declared content per serving, not per bottle. A bottle with a declared content of 650 mg sounds stronger than one with 490 mg, but what matters is how much is in one serving from the measuring cup. Without the number of servings, the content of the bottle does not resolve anything.
- Emulsification technology. An emulsifier or nanoemulsion in the composition is not a marketing gimmick, but a response to a physical problem: oil does not mix with water on its own.
- Auxiliary composition. Melatonin, L-theanine, or vitamins change the use of the drink more than the hemp content itself. A variant marked as Sleep is not suitable for morning.
- Clarity of description. If the manufacturer does not provide either milligrams in the bottle or per serving, you have no way to compare it with the competition.
- Taste and format. A drink with a flavor you do not like ends up as an unfinished bottle in the fridge, and that is the most expensive possible outcome of a purchase.
We consciously do not add a sixth point about what potency to start with. There is no data that would justify such advice, and with a food product containing hemp, the conversation about quantity belongs to a doctor or pharmacist, especially if you are taking medications regularly.
When to drink a hemp shot and how to store it?
The time of day depends not on the hemp itself, but on the additives. Variants with melatonin and those marked as Sleep are directed for the evening, while series described as Energy or enriched with B vitamins are for the first half of the day. You can read this distinction from the name of the item and the ingredient list before you even open the bottle.
Storage is of real importance for drinks, as the bottle remains open for many days. After opening, keep the shot in the refrigerator and use it within the time specified on the label. Light and temperature break down both plant ingredients and added vitamins, so a bottle on the windowsill loses value faster than you can drink it.
The time it takes for the effect to appear is influenced by the method of administration. In a crossover study on 14 healthy volunteers, the self-nanoemulsifying preparation reached peak concentration of cannabidiol metabolite after 1.11 hours, while classic oil drops needed 4.68 hours, and the relative bioavailability of cannabidiol was 2.3 times higher (Hermush et al., Journal of Cannabis Research, 2025). Two caveats must be made immediately: the study was funded by Capsoil Technologies, which produces the tested preparation, and its CEO is a co-author of the work; the preparation was also administered in the form of a powder containing 8 mg of THC and 8 mg of cannabidiol, not a hemp drink from the shelf. This suggests that emulsification makes a difference, not a measurement made on a shot.
Why is the word “CBD” missing from the bottle?
If you compare older and newer packaging of the same brand, you will notice a change in nomenclature: instead of the abbreviation CBD, you see “hemp seed oil” or “phytonutrients.” This is not a marketing move, but a consequence of EU regulations on novel foods.
On February 20, 2026, the European Commission issued an implementing decision closing the authorization procedure for cannabidiol (NF/2020/2122) without including it in the EU list of novel foods, and on March 13, 2026, it closed the procedures for synthetic cannabidiol, cannabidiol tincture, and cannabidiol oil in the same way (European Commission, decisions terminating the procedure). The decisions do not prohibit hemp products but close the path that manufacturers wanted to legalize cannabidiol as a food ingredient. Polish sanitary notification does not change this status. Therefore, drinks on the Polish market are described through hemp seed oil, which has a documented history of consumption in Europe.
The second layer is national law. Industrial hemp is defined by Article 4 point 5 of the Act of July 29, 2005 on Counteracting Drug Addiction (consolidated text: Journal of Laws 2023, item 1939), as amended by the Act of March 24, 2022 (Journal of Laws 2022, item 763). The provision states that the sum of delta-9-THC and tetrahydrocannabinolic acid in flowering or fruiting tops of plants must not exceed 0.3% when calculated on a dry mass basis, rounded to one decimal place. This distinction has practical significance because the result of a laboratory test counts from the sum, not from delta-9-THC alone.
The value of 0.3% has been in effect in Poland since May 7, 2022, replacing the previous 0.20%. It corresponds to the EU threshold from Article 4 paragraph 4 of Regulation (EU) 2021/2115, applied since January 1, 2023, but does not derive from it: these are two separate regulations with the same numerical value.
What mistakes are commonly made when buying shots?
Three mistakes recur often enough that it is worth mentioning them directly before you click on the cart.
- Comparing by the price of the bottle alone. Until you know the declared content, the price only tells you about volume and brand.
- Confusing formats within the same brand. Under the same trade name, both drinks and oils and capsules are available in the store, and the name of the flavor does not determine what you will find in the package.
- Combining with alcohol. Both substances act on the central nervous system, and when used simultaneously, it is difficult to separate what is responsible for the feeling.
The fourth mistake is less obvious: buying an evening variant marked as Energy or a morning one with melatonin. Sometimes someone drinks a stimulating drink in the evening and blames hemp for sleep problems, although the functional additive listed on the label is responsible for that.
A separate issue is medications. The European Food Safety Authority in its position from 2026 states explicitly that the safety of cannabidiol cannot be established for individuals under 25 years of age, for pregnant and breastfeeding women, and for individuals taking medications simultaneously (EFSA, EFSA Journal, 2026). If you belong to any of these groups, make the decision to reach for a hemp product with a doctor, not based on the description on the bottle.
