Original Gangster Deluxe (Cannabis flos Canopy Growth): lineage from three OG lines

A hybrid from one producer, with lineage leading three times to the OG family. Two Polish services attribute different aromatic compositions to it, and the registered name under which it entered circulation includes four other cultivars from the same producer.

  • Who supplies. Exclusively Canopy Growth, so there is nothing to compare versions with, and a supply break means no availability of this strain, not another version of it.
  • Profile. It leads with terpinolene, alongside humulene, caryophyllene, limonene, myrcene, ocimene. We do not provide percentage shares, as sources count them against different totals.
  • Origin. The lineage is established, with parents being Og Kush Breath and Triangle Kush and Josh D Og.
  • What is missing. Two sources describe the profile differently, so the further part of the set is disputed, not established.

What is Original Gangster Deluxe and where does this strain come from?

A hybrid with documented lineage. Available descriptions record it as a cross of OG Kush Breath with Triangle Kush, then combined with the offspring of Triangle Kush and Josh D OG. The lineage is therefore known, although it comes from commercial and press descriptions, not from a registry maintained by the breeder.

The cross notation in these descriptions looks like this: (OGKB x Triangle Kush) x (Triangle Kush x Josh D OG). The abbreviation OGKB stands for OG Kush Breath, so the same line appears twice in the notation, and Triangle Kush stands on both sides of the last crossing. For the reader, the lineage means that the contribution of one ancestor is doubled here, rather than evenly distributed among the three parental lines.

The OG component returns in the strain name and in the names of its two ancestors, but the common word in the name is not evidence of kinship in this cluster and never has been. The connection visible above is based on the lineage notation, not on the repeated syllable. If the notation were missing, there would only be a coincidence of names, which is material from which no conclusions about genetics can be drawn.

This strain belongs to the set of medical strains, which we keep in the overview of available medical marijuana strains. Its producer is described separately in the text about Canopy Growth.

Which producers supply this strain to Polish pharmacies?

One. All records for this position lead to Canopy Growth, in part signed under the brand Spectrum Therapeutics. In our list, it corresponds exactly to one pharmacy position, so there are no versions to compare: discrepancies between producers, which we usually write about, simply do not arise here.

The registered name of this position is Cannabis flos Canopy Growth. In sources, it carries a numerical component, which we do not repeat here: this number is a value declared by the producer and is subject to deviation from the declaration, so quoted alone it would suggest precision that the documentation does not have.

Cultivar in source notation Registered name without numerical component Availability status given in the database
Original Gangster Deluxe Cannabis flos Canopy Growth none
Afghan Kush Cannabis flos Canopy Growth high
Snowtorious Krypton Cannabis flos Canopy Growth low
Krypton Cannabis flos Canopy Growth withdrawn
Deep Breath Cannabis flos Canopy Growth none

The table shows the state of records, not the identity of the plants. The same registered name stands in one of the sources for five separate cultivars of this producer, as it describes the raw material along with its declared content, not the strain. The trade name of the cultivar may be added alongside, not standardized and not always present, so the reader encounters one registration record leading to five different plants.

The availability status ages faster than any list. In the database from which the above rows come, the described position is marked as unavailable, one of the others as withdrawn, and another as easily accessible. We keep the current status exclusively in the overview of strains, as only there can it be updated in one place. Medical cannabis is dispensed by prescription and is not available in retail; the category hemp flower in our store includes a completely different assortment.

What does Original Gangster Deluxe smell and taste like?

Citrusy, with a spicy and peppery background. This is how this flower is described by the database, which is the only one providing a fuller set of aromatic components for it. The description comes from a commercial service, not from a sensory evaluation conducted according to a protocol, so we read it as a seller’s declaration and present it here as such.

Two Polish services differ in the composition they attribute to this strain. One lists six aromatic components, the other only one. Only in the first record are humulene, caryophyllene, limonene, myrcene, and ocimene present. Terpinolene is the only one on which both services agree, and in both it leads the profile.

We do not provide percentage shares, although one of the sources publishes them. The reason is arithmetic: for this strain, the six given shares sum to seventy-two, not one hundred. The denominator remains unknown, and a single number pulled from such a set would speak of a proportion that no one has measured. Therefore, we present the composition as composition: listing the components and indicating the one that leads.

Terpinolene returns in scent descriptions as a fresh and resinous note, closer to needles than to fruit peel, which can be reconciled with the seller’s citrus description. Individual components are described separately: terpinolene, caryophyllene, limonene, myrcene, humulene, and ocimene.

How long does it take for this strain to take effect and how long does the effect last?

Depending on the route of administration, not the name on the label. For Original Gangster Deluxe, no one has measured either the onset of action or the duration of its effects, as there are no studies involving this cultivar. The only numbers that can be provided here describe vaporization and ingestion in general.

The route of administration determines the course more than the strain itself, and the ranges below describe it, not this cultivar, as pharmacokinetic studies for a single cultivar have not been published.

Vaporization After ingestion
First sensations after a few minutes from half an hour to two
Onset another ten to thirty minutes slow, over several hours
Total duration within two to four hours after six, sometimes eight hours
Typical error none taking a dose after thirty minutes, which gives both doses at once

The practical consequence concerns the setting of the equipment, not the plant itself. A lower temperature vaporizes less material in one pass, so the onset can be slower than with a higher setting, and the ranges given above still describe the route of administration. With one commercial position in circulation, the patient also does not have another version of the same cultivar to compare their own reaction, so every observation remains a singular observation.

What is known and what is not known about the effects of this strain?

Nothing is known from studies. Not a single paper dedicated to this strain has been published, so everything that can be referenced pertains to the single aromatic component leading in its profile. Both available studies on this component were conducted on mice or in vitro, not involving patients.

Study Model and route of administration What was shown
Okumura N et al., 2012
Oncology Letters
PMID:22740904
in vitro (human cell line K562) Terpinolene reduced AKT1 protein levels and inhibited the proliferation of human leukemia cells of the K562 line in culture; the study did not concern pain, sleep, or anxiety.
Ito K et al., 2013
Journal of Natural Medicines
PMID:23339024
rodent (mouse, inhalation) Inhaled terpinolene exhibited sedative effects in mice; the effect also persisted in mice with impaired olfaction, indicating that the action occurred after absorption of the compound into the body through the nose, not solely through the perception of smell.

The boundary of this data can be named precisely. The effects of terpinolene on pain, anxiety, or sleep have not been demonstrated in humans or in any animal pain model; the available data only covers sedative effects after inhalation in mice and the impact on a leukemia cell line in vitro.

Separately from the evidence stands the commercial material. The database describing this position assigns it a balanced effect, which is a catalog label organizing the offer, not a conclusion from measurement. Patient reports for this name are not collected in a public compilation in Poland, so there is nothing to base on evidence.

What side effects have been reported after this strain?

None, if asking about the name itself. Safety oversight assigns the description to a specific medicinal product along with its batch, and the cultivar may be absent in this record, so no separate observation register has been created for the described position. What has been described pertains to hemp flower in general.

Reports of side effects are collected for medicinal products with a batch number, not for the strain name, so the following pertains to hemp flower as a group of raw materials. The most commonly reported are dry mouth, red eyes, and increased heart rate. Less frequently described are dizziness upon rapid standing, daytime drowsiness, and temporary worsening of short-term memory, as well as anxiety increasing with dosage. A separate issue is medications taken concurrently, especially sedatives and those affecting coagulation: their assessment requires knowledge of the entire list of preparations, not just the description of the plant. We do not provide the frequency of these symptoms numerically, as public compilations for hemp flower in Poland do not separate them by individual products.

For this strain, there is one more obstacle that is not present for most positions. The registered name under which it entered circulation includes five cultivars of the same producer in the source record, so observation assigned to the registration record itself would not clearly indicate this plant. With one commercial position and the lack of public frequencies, there is therefore no basis to count anything separately for Original Gangster Deluxe.

What do the boiling temperatures of the components of this strain say about the vaporizer setting?

Less than popular tables assigning thresholds to terpenes suggest. The aromatic components of this profile boil over a very wide range: myrcene around 167 degrees Celsius, terpinolene at 184, and caryophyllene only above 256. The vaporizer setting is not the temperature that the flower itself reaches in the device chamber.

Aromatic component Boiling temperature record Measurement conditions in the source
myrcene 166-167 degrees Celsius atmospheric pressure
limonene 175-176 degrees Celsius atmospheric pressure
ocimene 177 degrees Celsius pressure not provided
terpinolene 183-185 degrees Celsius, in one record 187 atmospheric pressure
caryophyllene 256-259 degrees Celsius atmospheric pressure
humulene 99-100 degrees Celsius under reduced pressure 3 mmHg

The comparison looks precise and is not. The value for humulene was measured under reduced pressure, so it does not transfer to a device operating under atmospheric pressure, and for ocimene, the source does not provide measurement conditions at all. The gap between myrcene and caryophyllene reaches nearly ninety degrees, which is more than the entire useful range of adjustment of typical equipment.

The record for terpinolene is also not uniform: two cards provide the range 183-185 degrees, the third a single value of 187. The difference is small, but it shows that even physicochemical data can be recorded divergently, and a table built from one source gives an impression of certainty that is not present in the material.

For this reason, we describe the evaporation of components separately, and the difference between the device setting and the temperature of the raw material even separately. For the described strain, none of these texts will provide a number matched to it, as no such number has been determined: temperatures come from chemical compound cards, not from measurement on this flower.

Which strains from Polish pharmacies are related to it?

Strain Common parent Leading terpene Producers
King Sherb Og Kush Breath caryophyllene S-LAB
Triangle Mints Triangle Kush caryophyllene S-LAB, Synoptis Pharma
Wedding Pop Triangle Triangle Kush caryophyllene Medalchemy

Three, all present in Polish pharmacies: King Sherb, Triangle Mints, and Wedding Pop Triangle. Each shares one documented ancestor with the described strain, not just the name component. King Sherb descends from OG Kush Breath, while the other two descend from Triangle Kush, which stands on both sides of the crossing in this lineage.

Strain Common ancestor Second ancestor Producers present in Poland
King Sherb OG Kush Breath Blue Sherbet S-LAB
Triangle Mints Triangle Kush Animal Mints S-LAB, Synoptis Pharma
Wedding Pop Triangle Triangle Kush Wedding Cake Medalchemy

The pedigree chart connects strains solely through ancestors identified as single cultivars. Broad families of style, such as afghani or haze, do not create siblings, as they are a category, not a plant with established lineage. Here, both common links are specific cultivars, so the list is not empty and did not have to be guessed by name.

Two things can easily be confused here. The four remaining positions of the same producer share the registered name with the described strain, but their lineages do not intersect with it at any point, so they are not siblings. Kinship arises from the lineage notation, and the common registered name solely from how the documentation was conducted for approval.

Each of these strains is described separately: King Sherb, Triangle Mints, and Wedding Pop Triangle.

Frequently asked questions about the Original Gangster Deluxe strain

Is Original Gangster Deluxe available in Polish pharmacies?

The database we use marks this position as unavailable, and this status changes with permits and deliveries. We maintain a current overview of what can realistically be purchased in the medical marijuana strain compilation.

Who produces Original Gangster Deluxe?

Canopy Growth, in part of the records signed under the brand Spectrum Therapeutics. This is the only producer of this strain in Polish circulation, and it corresponds to exactly one pharmacy position.

Which aromatic component leads in the profile of this strain?

Terpinolene. It is the only component on which both Polish services describing this strain agree, and in both records, it stands first.

Why is there no THC content for this strain in this text?

Because sources provide a declared value without tolerance, and a single number would suggest precision that the documentation does not confirm. We provide the content only as a range, and here there simply is no range.

Are Original Gangster Deluxe and Afghan Kush the same strain?

No. They are two separate cultivars with different lineages, recorded in one of the sources under the same registered name Canopy Growth. The commonality is in the documentation record, not the plant.

Which strains from Polish pharmacies are related to Original Gangster Deluxe?

King Sherb through OG Kush Breath and Triangle Mints and Wedding Pop Triangle through Triangle Kush. Apart from this trio, the pedigree chart does not indicate any other siblings present in Polish pharmacies.

Hemp flower is a pharmaceutical raw material dispensed by prescription in the Rpw category. The material is informational in nature and does not replace medical advice or recommendations from a pharmacist.
