What is Shishkaberry and where does this strain come from?
Shishkaberry is a hybrid with a documented lineage: a cross between the DJ Short Blueberry line and an unspecified Afghan strain, attributed to a breeder signing as Breeder Steve and the seed company Spice of Life Seeds, dated 1996. It reached Polish pharmacies as a single entry from one producer.
The lineage is only partially known, and that part has a proper name. DJ Short Blueberry is a specific breeding line managed under the breeder's name, so it can be pointed out. The other parent is listed in the source as an unknown Afghan strain, which serves as a label for an entire group of plants from a single cultivation region. Such a record does not indicate a specific plant, only the area from which it originated.
The lineage record has two supports in our case. The first is the Leafly database, which states the crossing of the DJ Short Blueberry line with an unspecified Afghan strain and links it to the breeder and the year 1996. The second is the Polish list of medicinal strains, describing the raw material from the producer CanPoland under the same name. The composition section lists four entries for this strain: myrcene, caryophyllene, limonene and ocymen. The compilation comes from a single source, as the second database we use in this cluster does not describe this strain at all. Doses were administered in milligrams per kilogram of mouse body weight, and in two of the three studies by injection into the peritoneal cavity. Translating such a dose into one puff of vapor from dried flower is not arithmetic, and no one has published such a conversion. Separately, what is not studied: popular databases attribute balanced effects to this name, and commercial descriptions repeat this label without indicating where it came from.
In humans, myrcene alone has not been shown to alleviate insomnia at doses typical for inhalation of dried flower. The direction of the effect in rodents depends on the route of administration and sex: intraperitoneal injection in 2002 described a slightly anxiogenic effect, while inhalation in 2024 showed an anxiolytic effect in females. These two results do not negate each other; they simply show that the conclusion depends on conditions that no popular strain database provides.

For three compounds from this profile, the database provides measurements referenced to atmospheric pressure, while for ocimene, it gives just the number, without information about conditions. Setting four values in one column would suggest that they can be compared, but that is precisely what cannot be done. The only interesting case here is Northern Berry, which has blueberry listed among its parents, while we have dj short blueberry recorded. In this database, these are two different strings, so the graph does not connect them and does not derive siblings from them. Determining whether this refers to the same breeding line would require a source that is not available here, and adding it based on intuition would create a false link between the two entries.
