OG LA Affie is a proprietary name from the breeder's materials and does not appear in any other tree from our compilation aside from the lineage of this strain. Afghani, on the other hand, is not a single identified plant, but a regional category. In the pedigree graph, it is mentioned alongside two other cultivars from the pharmacy, yet the project does not group them into one family: a common geographical category does not mean the same parent. Caution comes at a price here, as it shortens the list of connections, but false kinship would cost the reader more.

After vaporization, the substance passes from the lungs to the blood almost immediately, so the first sensations appear after a few minutes, the intensity increases for another ten to thirty minutes, and the whole effect lasts for two to four hours. After ingestion, the raw material first passes through the intestine and liver, so the first sensations are awaited from half an hour to two hours, and the episode can last six, sometimes eight hours. Hence the most common mistake with oral administration: anyone who thinks nothing is happening after thirty minutes and takes another dose will receive both doses at once. The above ranges describe the route of administration, not this variety; pharmacokinetic studies for a single cultivar have not been published.

For L.A Confidential itself, this changes nothing. None of the studies cited below measured concentrations after administering this cultivar, and the strain falls within the above ranges as dried flower, just like any other product from the pharmacy. What is known, and what is not known about the effects of L.A Confidential?

Not much, and not about the strain itself. No clinical study of this cultivar has been published, so everything that can be cited pertains to individual terpenes studied separately, in animals or in cell culture. This is a level of evidence that does not indicate what the strain does to the patient. We separate this below.

For pinene, the leading terpene of this strain, we have two studies. Yang and colleagues described in 2016 in Molecular Pharmacology (PMID:27573669) the following: Orally administered (-)-alpha-pinene prolonged NREM sleep time in mice and shortened sleep latency (EEG/EMG recording), acting as a partial modulator that binds directly to the benzodiazepine site of the GABA-A receptor, without affecting the intensity of NREM sleep or the duration of REM sleep.

The second study goes even deeper, into cell culture. Kim and colleagues in 2015 in The American Journal of Chinese Medicine (PMID:26119957) reported: Alpha-pinene reduced the secretion of IL-6, TNF-alpha, and nitric oxide, as well as the expression of iNOS and COX-2 in LPS-stimulated mouse peritoneal macrophages, by inhibiting the MAPK and NF-kB pathways. We literally state the boundary of both results: No anxiolytic or analgesic effects of pinene have been demonstrated in humans; available data only concern its effects on sleep in mice after oral administration and its anti-inflammatory action on mouse macrophages in culture.

Separately stands what comes from the commercial description. The practical consequence is one. It is worth noting the symptom along with the batch number and date, as only in this form can the report be linked to a specific substance. How to vaporize L.A Confidential?

Just like any other dried flower, because the strain does not change the physics. For alpha-pinene, the literature cites around 156 degrees Celsius, for myrcene nearly 167, and for caryophyllene over 257. This third number shows, by the way, why temperature tables online contradict each other. The same caryophyllene has a recorded value of 130 degrees in sources, but at a pressure reduced to fourteen millimeters of mercury.
