Pave S1 (Cannabis flos Cantourage): caryophyllene and lineage from Paris OG

Pave S1 is a hybrid from the Cantourage offering, available in Polish pharmacies in one position. We have gathered its documented lineage, the terpene profile composition from a single source, and the boundaries of what has actually been shown about caryophyllene.

Pave S1 is one of the newer entries in the Polish pharmacy list and one of the few for which the lineage can be verified on both sides. Below is what is known about it from the data, and separately what is unknown despite the descriptions circulating online.

Where does Pave S1 come from and what does the S1 suffix in its name mean?

Pave S1 comes from the American breeder Compound Genetics and was created by crossing Paris OG with The Menthol. The S1 suffix indicates a generation from self-pollination of the base variety Pave, rather than a separate cross. The lineage is documented in this case on both sides, which is not the norm in this variety comparison.

The breeder treats Pave as a proprietary line, and the S1 designation refers to the method of its reproduction: the base plant was pollinated with its own pollen, so the offspring comes from a single individual, not from a pair of parents. This distinction is important when reading breeding lists, as Pave and Pave S1 may be listed next to each other as two varieties, even though the latter is a generation of the former.

The origin on the Paris OG and The Menthol side is provided by the public genealogy of the breeder, and it is repeated in the Polish commercial description at the time the variety was introduced to the market. In the comparison on which this cluster is based, 25 out of 85 cultivars have no established origin, as the breeder has not disclosed it or the sources contradict each other. Pave S1 does not belong to this group, and that is the only reason why the parents are mentioned here by name.

The name itself proves nothing. The term Pave does not appear in any other entry from this list, and the phonetic similarity to commercial names outside pharmacies does not indicate anything about genetics.

Which manufacturer supplies Pave S1 to Polish pharmacies?

One. Cantourage. In our pharmacy list, Pave S1 appears in one entry and there is no second version of this cultivar from another manufacturer, so comparing series between suppliers is impossible here. Cantourage itself offers a total of five varieties covered by this comparison in Polish pharmacies.

Pharmacy entry feature Value Origin

Registered name without a numerical component Cannabis flos Cantourage Manufacturer's register
Form dried flower, inflorescence pharmacy list
Number of entries for this cultivar 1 pharmacy list
Genetics according to the source hybrid budcare.pl
Declared availability high budcare.pl

A single supplier means that the presence of this entry in circulation depends on one chain: on the permit, on the series, and on the delivery date. When the series ends, there is no second manufacturer where the same cultivar would wait under a different registered name. Therefore, the list of varieties present in pharmacies ages faster than the description of a single plant, and the current state holds a separate summary page of the cluster.

The registered name of all entries from this manufacturer is the same after removing the numerical suffix. It is this number that distinguishes Pave S1 in the register from the other four Cantourage varieties present in Poland. The declared THC content for this entry is in the range of 24.6-30.0%. We provide it as a range because the manufacturer declares one value and allows for deviation in both directions. In the registration record itself, the decimal part of this value stands without a comma, next to the allowable deviation, so at a cursory reading, one is taken for the other, resulting in a range several times narrower than declared.

We have separately described the manufacturer itself and the other strains that have been brought to Polish pharmacies.

What does Pave S1 smell like and what does the profile composition say about it?

Minty and sweet, with a fruity note and a distinct fuel-like accent. This is how the aroma of Pave S1 is described by the only source that publishes any scent description for this strain. Additionally, there is a peppery tone, consistent with the caryophyllene indicated in our pharmacy list as the leading terpene of this variety.

The profile composition describes for Pave S1 one source, budcare.pl, and lists five compounds: farnezen, caryophyllene, limonene, linalool and pinene. The second of the services we are compiling in this project does not describe this strain at all, so there is nothing to compare or correct here. The description comes from a single source and should be read as such.

The same source assigns a participation number to each of these five compounds. Summed for Pave S1, they give 125, which is a value that does not fit within the hundred and cannot describe a part of the whole. In the entire collection of profiles from this service, there are 46 different sums, ranging from 14 to 125, with a median of 82, and six entries exceed a hundred out of 145. Pave S1 ranks highest among them and is the only entry with this sum. Therefore, in the texts of this cluster, we provide the composition as composition, without numbers next to the compound names.

Aroma is, after all, a sensory description, not a measurement. The same sample smells different after two weeks in a jar than on the day the package is opened, and descriptions in commercial sources are created from a single sniff, not from chromatographic separation.

How long does it take for Pave S1 to take effect and how long does it last?

After vaporization, it takes a few minutes, while after ingestion, significantly longer. For Pave S1, no separate measurement has been published, so the course is described for the route of administration, not for this cultivar. The method of intake is determined by the attending physician, and it is they, not the strain name, who decides how the first hour looks.

The route of administration determines the course more than the variety itself. After vaporization, the substance passes from the lungs to the blood almost immediately, so the first sensations appear after a few minutes, the intensity increases for another ten to thirty minutes, and the whole effect lasts for two to four hours. After ingestion, the raw material first passes through the intestine and liver, so the first sensations are awaited from half an hour to two hours, and the episode can last six, sometimes eight hours. Hence the most common mistake with oral administration: anyone who thinks nothing is happening after thirty minutes and takes another dose will receive both doses at once. The above ranges describe the route of administration, not this variety; pharmacokinetic studies for a single cultivar have not been published.

Cultivars differ in composition, not in absorption physiology. Nothing in the data about Pave S1 indicates that this entry deviates in this respect from the other 84 cultivars in our comparison, and no such comparison has been conducted so far.

What has been shown in studies on caryophyllene, and what has not?

A lot has been shown about caryophyllene itself and nothing about this strain. Two papers from the evidence base of this project concern a single compound administered to mice, not the dried flower of Pave S1 inhaled by a patient. The rest of what circulates about it online is either a commercial description or user reports.

Gertsch J, Leonti M, Raduner S, Racz I, Chen JZ, Xie XQ, Altmann KH, Karsak M, Zimmer A described the following result in 2008 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), PMID:18574142. (E)-caryophyllene selectively bound to the CB2 receptor (Ki = 155 nM) and inhibited carrageenan-induced paw swelling in wild-type mice, but not in CB2 receptor-deficient mice (Cnr2-/-), indicating a CB2-dependent mechanism; the study did not include any anxiety tests. The model was a mouse and a test tube with human cells.

Six years later, Klauke AL, Racz I, Pradier B, Markert A, Zimmer AM, Gertsch J, Zimmer A showed in European Neuropsychopharmacology, PMID:24210682, that oral caryophyllene reduced the late inflammatory phase of pain in the formalin test in a CB2 receptor-dependent manner, with no effect on the early phase; in a neuropathic pain model, it alleviated thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia without developing tolerance with chronic administration. The model was a rodent.

The limitations of both studies must be stated clearly. In neither of the two studies was caryophyllene tested on humans or in inhaled form from dried flower; both papers concern oral or systemic administration in mice in pain and inflammation models, not sleep or mood.

Aside from these two studies, there is nothing for Pave S1 that could be called evidence. The source describing its profile attributes it a relaxing effect, but this is a catalog label assigned to the strain by the editorial team of the service, not a result of measurements on patients. The manufacturer's material and forum reports speak of experiences that no one has collected in a controlled manner.

What side effects have been reported after Pave S1?

None. For the name Pave S1, no separate statistics on reports are kept, as safety oversight links an event to a medicinal product and batch number, not to a cultivar. This is not a gap in our study, but rather the way the entire reporting system works.

Reports of adverse effects are collected for medicinal products with a batch number, not for the strain name, so the following pertains to hemp dried flower as a group of raw materials. The most frequently reported symptoms are dry mouth, red eyes, and increased heart rate. Dizziness upon rapid standing, daytime drowsiness, and temporary worsening of short-term memory are less frequently described, as well as anxiety that increases with dosage. A separate issue is medications taken concurrently, especially sedatives and those affecting coagulation: their assessment requires knowledge of the entire list of preparations, not just the description of the plant. We do not provide the frequency of these symptoms numerically, as public compilations for hemp dried flower in Poland do not separate them by individual products.

With this entry, there is one caveat. The declared content is among the higher in our comparison, and the intensity of some of the symptoms mentioned above depends on the dosage. Translating this to a specific patient is the task of the attending physician, as it requires knowledge of the dosage and other preparations being taken.

At what temperature do the terpenes from the Pave S1 profile vaporize?

There is no single such temperature. The five compounds listed in the Pave S1 profile have boiling points spread over a range of about one hundred degrees, and one of them has no measurement in the public database. The boiling point itself is not, in fact, a threshold beyond which vaporization begins.

Compound from the profile Boiling point at atmospheric pressure Note on the source record
pinene 156.2 degrees Celsius converted from degrees Fahrenheit
limonene 177.8 degrees Celsius a separate record states 175-176 without pressure
linalool 195.5 degrees Celsius source records from 194 to 200
caryophyllene 257.5 degrees Celsius a separate measurement of 130 refers to a pressure of 14 mm Hg
farnezen not available in the database PubChem does not provide a boiling point

The numbers from the table come from PubChem and refer to pure compounds, not dried flower. Vaporization occurs well below the boiling point, as vapor pressure increases exponentially with temperature, and the boiling point is only the moment when it equals the surrounding pressure. The popular targeting of a specific terpene is based on reversing this relationship.

Farnesene does not appear in such a comparison at all, as the public database does not provide a boiling point for it. With caryophyllene, it is the opposite: it has an atmospheric record and a separate measurement under reduced pressure, and these two numbers seem contradictory until the pressure at which they were obtained is taken into account.

Additionally, the temperature shown on the vaporizer is not the temperature of the dried flower. We have separately outlined why the setting and the material are two different quantities oraz dlaczego tabele temperatur terpenes that cannot be compared. The method of consuming the dried flower is determined by the attending physician, and this text is not an instruction manual for the equipment.

Which strains from Polish pharmacies are related to Pave S1?

One: Pink Certz. Both strains have one common parent, which is The Menthol, and both originate from the same breeding. Apart from this pair, the pedigree chart of our comparison does not connect Pave S1 with anything else, although we checked both sides of its origin.

Pink Certz reaches Polish pharmacies from a different manufacturer than Pave S1, so one breeding family enters the shelf through two independent paths. We have described this strain separately, along with its own profile, in which the leading terpene is nerolidol, not caryophyllene. The common parent does not therefore transfer the profile to the offspring in a way that could be inferred from the name.

Druga strona rodowodu Pink Certz prowadzi do Grape Gasoline i daje jej jeszcze dwie odmiany po tym samym rodzicu: Gastro Pop and Modified Gas. None of them is related to Pave S1, even though Modified Gas is available in pharmacies under the same manufacturer's label. Siblings of siblings do not form a family.

Paris OG, the second parent of this strain, has not left any other offspring in our compilation. There are three names with the OG suffix here, and none have Paris OG in their lineage, which clearly shows how much value can be placed on inferring relationships based solely on the sound of a brand name.

Frequently asked questions about Pave S1

Is Pave S1 an indica or sativa strain?

The only source describing this strain defines it as a hybrid and does not provide the proportions between the lines. The division into indica and sativa today describes more the plant's growth habit than its composition, so this description does not say anything about the profile or effects.

Who bred Pave S1?

The strain comes from Compound Genetics and was created by crossing Paris OG with The Menthol. The S1 designation indicates a generation obtained from self-pollination of the base plant Pave.

Is Pave S1 available in Polish pharmacies?

In the compilation on which this text is based, Pave S1 appears in one entry from the manufacturer Cantourage. Availability changes with permits and deliveries, so the current status is checked on the cluster's aggregate page, not in the strain description.

What terpenes are listed in the Pave S1 profile?

Farnesene, caryophyllene, limonene, linalool, and pinene. The set comes from a single source, and we do not provide the share numbers because their total for Pave S1 is 125 and cannot be read as a part of a whole.

Does Pave S1 have analgesic effects?

This has not been demonstrated for this strain. Both studies from the evidence base of this project concern caryophyllene administered to mice, and transferring such a result to dried flower inhaled by humans is not justified.

Which pharmacy strains are related to Pave S1?

Pink Certz, through the common parent The Menthol. The other strains in this compilation do not share a common ancestor with Pave S1, including those that are available in pharmacies under the same manufacturer's label.

Does Pave S1 require a prescription?

Yes. Dried flower is dispensed in Poland only by prescription from a doctor in the Rpw category, and the choice of strain and method of consumption is up to the attending physician.

Dried flower is a pharmaceutical raw material dispensed by prescription from a doctor in the Rpw category. The material is for informational purposes and does not replace medical advice nor is it an encouragement to use. Dried flower offered for retail sale is a separate category of products and is under its own address.
