Express shipping with InPost until 17:45 - why is this a huge advantage for customers?

Orders with InPost delivery placed by 17:45 are shipped the same business day. Costs, thresholds for free delivery, delivery times, and return policies.

The time at which the store hands the package to the courier determines whether the shipment is sent today or only tomorrow. At u Bucha, the cutoff time for orders with InPost delivery is 5:45 PM on business days. Orders placed and paid for before this time are handed to the courier the same day, while those placed after wait until the next business day. Below, we describe this process step by step, how much shipping costs, from what amount it is free, and how InPost calculates delivery time and the deadline for pickup from the machine. For information regarding the carrier, we provide the source, as this is information about another company, not our warehouse.

KEY INFORMATION
• The cutoff time for sending in the u Bucha store is 5:45 PM on business days, from Monday to Friday.
• The shipping cost to a Paczkomat machine starts at 12.99 PLN, and by courier from 15.99 PLN; for cash on delivery, there is an additional charge of 3 to 4 PLN.
• Delivery to a machine is free for orders worth 199 PLN or more, and by courier for orders over 249 PLN.
• InPost calculates delivery time in business days and does not include Saturdays, Sundays, or holidays.
• You have 48 hours from notification to pick up from the Paczkomat machine. After this deadline, the package returns to the sender, which is us.
• All orders are packed in neutral boxes and envelopes, without product names or markings on the outside.

Why does the time of sending determine the day of delivery?

The shipment's journey is divided into two segments: the one on the store's side and the one on the carrier's side. The store is responsible for assembling, packing, and handing the package to the courier. From the moment of handover, the carrier's time starts counting, which the seller cannot influence. The cutoff time for sending is the point of contact between these two segments.

The consequence is simple and entirely mechanical. The courier picks up from our shipping point once a day. A package ready before their arrival goes to the sorting facility that same evening. A package packed fifteen minutes after they leave waits in the warehouse until the next day, even if it was packed immediately. The difference in the store's operations is a matter of a few minutes, while the difference for the recipient is usually a full day.

Therefore, moving the cutoff time to late afternoon only makes sense if it is synchronized with the courier's pickup time. Setting it to a time after which no packages are picked up would be an empty promise. Our pickups occur around 6:30 PM, so there is a real buffer for assembling and packing orders placed just before 5:45 PM.

It's also worth knowing that the day of sending, in the carrier's understanding, is a business day when the package actually reaches their hands or the shipping machine. It is not the day the order is placed or the day the payment is recorded. This difference can lead to misunderstandings with orders placed on Friday evenings.

For the same reason, it is important to read the declarations of online stores carefully. The phrase "shipping in 24 hours" describes the time on the seller's side, meaning the deadline for handing the package to the carrier, not the time when the shipment will reach the recipient. A store declaring shipping in 24 hours and a store declaring same-day dispatch are talking about two different things, even though it sounds similar. To the time on the seller's side, you always have to add the transport time, which is counted separately and according to the carrier's rules.

By what time do you need to place an order?

The cutoff time is 5:45 PM on business days. Orders with InPost delivery placed and paid for by this time are dispatched the same business day. Later orders are processed the next morning and shipped the evening of the following business day.

All supported payment methods qualify for express dispatch: BLIK, card, quick transfer, PayPo, and cash on delivery. The choice of delivery method does not matter here, as both the Paczkomat machine and InPost courier have the same cutoff time.

There is one exception worth remembering when planning a last-minute purchase. With a regular bank transfer, the moment the funds are credited counts, not the moment you click the payment button. Instant transfers arrive in a few minutes, but a regular interbank transfer made in the afternoon can only arrive the next day. If you want to ensure same-day dispatch, BLIK, card, or cash on delivery are safer options, as the confirmation is immediate.

Weekends operate under a different logic, as the courier does not pick up packages on Saturday or Sunday. Orders placed from Friday after 5:45 PM to Sunday evening are dispatched on Monday. The same applies to public holidays that fall on weekdays.

How to check if your order made it for a given day? The decisive factor is the notification of dispatch with the tracking number, which we send at the moment the package is handed to the courier. The confirmation of order placement, which arrives right after the purchase, is not yet a confirmation of dispatch. If the dispatch notification reached you that evening, the package is already on its way.

The reverse situation can also occur. If it turns out during assembly that a product is missing despite being correctly listed in the system, we contact you before shipping to determine whether you prefer to wait for the restock, receive a partial order, or cancel. Such contact means deviating from the rhythm of the same day, but it is fairer than sending an incomplete package without prior notice.

What happens to the package after placing an order?

Between clicking and the package leaving the warehouse, there are several tasks we perform in a fixed order. The following list shows what happens at each stage and who is responsible at that time.

Stage What happens Po czyjej stronie
Order Choosing products, delivery method, and payment, by 5:45 PM Client
Payment confirmation The order appears in the warehouse panel Payment operator
Kompletacja Gathering products and checking compliance with the order Store
Packing Securing the contents and closing in a neutral package Store
Etykieta Printing the shipping label and providing the tracking number Store
Pickup by the courier Handing over packages around 6:30 PM, which is the day of dispatch Sklep i InPost
Sorting and delivery Transport to the sorting facility and then to the machine or to the address InPost

The actual assembly and packing take about 6 to 9 minutes for a typical order involving one to three products. For larger orders, around eight to ten items, it takes 12 to 15 minutes. These times refer to the work on one package, not the waiting time in the order queue, which depends on how many orders have come in at a given hour.

The tracking number is provided at the time of dispatch via SMS and email. From that moment, the package status is updated with each subsequent scan by the carrier and can be tracked in the InPost Mobile app.

The biggest variable in this puzzle is not the packing speed, but the distribution of orders over time. Afternoon hours are more congested than morning ones, so an order placed fifteen minutes before the cutoff enters a queue that already has others. Therefore, the buffer between the cutoff time and the courier's arrival is not a formality but a condition to ensure that the declaration is also valid on a day with higher traffic.

The sorting stage on the carrier's side takes place at night, and it determines whether the package will make it for the morning replenishment of machines. From the store's perspective, it is invisible because we do not have insight into it beyond what the scan history shows. This is also the reason why we do not declare a delivery time, only the day of dispatch, which we can actually influence.

How does InPost calculate delivery time?

Here, it is worth referring directly to the carrier's document instead of repeating common phrases about delivery in 24 hours. The regulations of the InPost Paczkomat 24/7 service state that the delivery time for packages is counted in business days and that Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays are not included in this count (InPost regulations effective from July 24, 2025, paragraf 2).

This same document defines a business day as a day from Monday to Friday, unless it is a public holiday in Poland. The day of dispatch is the business day on which the sender handed the package over to the carrier or placed it in the shipping machine.

The practical implication is this: a package sent by us on Monday evening is typically available for pickup on Tuesday. A package sent on Friday evening will be delivered on Monday, as the weekend does not count towards the deadline. If a public holiday falls during the week, the deadline is extended by another day.

It is also important to consider how the regulations categorize the provided deadlines. They are defined as expected time, not guaranteed, and the carrier reserves the right that circumstances beyond their control may affect the delivery process. The service agreement connects the carrier with the sender, that is, the store, and not directly with the recipient of the package. This distinction is practically significant for complaints, which we discuss below.

We consciously do not provide a punctuality indicator for deliveries or the percentage of complaints. Such numbers circulate in guides in versions that we have not been able to confirm in any published material from the carrier, and they are data about someone else's company, so we do not want to repeat them without a source. You can always find the current service parameters in the InPost regulations and price list.

How much does shipping cost and when is it free?

The cost of delivery to the Paczkomat machine starts at 12.99 PLN in our store. Delivery by InPost courier starts at 15.99 PLN. Choosing cash on delivery involves an additional fee of around 3 to 4 PLN, as the courier collects cash and settles it with the sender.

The threshold for free delivery depends on the chosen form. For delivery to the Paczkomat machine, orders worth 199 PLN or more are sent without transport charges. For courier delivery, the threshold is 249 PLN. The difference arises from the higher unit cost of delivery to an address.

The shipping price includes the full delivery cost, with no additional fees for the size of the locker. Paczkomat machines handle lockers in three sizes, and the selection is made by the carrier based on the package dimensions. From the customer's perspective, this means that a larger order does not increase the transport price as long as it fits within the allowable dimensions of the shipment.

The threshold for free delivery is calculated based on the value of the ordered products, not the amount increased by the transport cost. If the cart stops just below the threshold, adding the shipping cost will not exceed it. The value of the cart along with the current shipping cost is visible at the last step of the order, just before confirming the payment, and this is the place to check that amount.

Product prices change more often than the content of this article, so we do not provide amounts for specific items or example carts reaching the threshold. You can always find the current prices on the product page, and the cart value along with the shipping cost is visible at the last step of the order, before confirming the payment.

Paczkomat or InPost courier: what to choose?

Both forms of delivery are subject to the same cutoff time for dispatch, so the choice does not affect which day the package will leave the warehouse. The differences concern the method of pickup, not the speed of shipping on our side.

The machine works well when it is difficult to predict when you will be home. Pickup is possible at any time, including early morning and late evening, and the carrier's app allows you to open the locker without entering a code. It is also a convenient solution in buildings where the courier has difficulty reaching the correct apartment.

The courier has an advantage in two situations. The first is an order of a size that will not fit in the largest locker of the machine. The second is delivery to a place where someone is always present, such as an office or reception. A separate group includes people with limited mobility, for whom reaching the machine can be a real obstacle, while the courier delivers the package right to the door.

The price difference between the two forms is 3 PLN at the basic rate, and the thresholds for free delivery differ by 50 PLN. When the cart is close to the threshold, it is worth checking which option is cheaper overall, as sometimes delivery to the machine is already free while the courier is not.

When delivering by courier, it is also important to know one more rule from the carrier's regulations. If the delivery to the address fails, the package is notified for 72 hours from the second delivery attempt. If during this time a day falls when the pickup location was closed all day, the deadline is extended by another 24 hours for each such day. After the notification period expires, the package returns to the sender.

In practice, this means that choosing a courier with an unpredictable schedule can be less convenient than using a machine, even though the package is delivered right to the door. The machine waits regardless of whether you are home, while with the courier, you have to catch the delivery attempt or make it in time to pick up the package during the notification period.

How extensive is the network of parcel machines in Poland?

The density of the network determines how far you are from the pickup point, and it is one of the few carrier data that can be verified in published market reports. The following numbers come from the market summary for the second quarter of 2025, as of June 30, 2025.

Operator Number of machines in Poland
InPost ponad 26 500
DPD approximately 10,800
Orlen Paczka blisko 6 500
DHL approximately 6,000
Polish Post blisko 2 000
All operators combined blisko 58 000

InPost remains the largest operator of machines in the country, and it is its network that handles our shipments (cashless.pl, data for the second quarter of 2025). It is worth noting the proportions: InPost machines make up just under half of all devices in Poland, as the market is divided among several operators whose devices are not mutually compatible.

For the customer, this has one practical implication. The machine closest to your home may not belong to the operator you choose in the cart. Before selecting a pickup point, it is advisable to check the map during the delivery step to see where the nearest device supporting the chosen shipping method is located, rather than relying on memory of a machine seen in the area.

The numbers in the table should be treated as a snapshot of the market on a specific day, rather than a permanent state. The network of machines grows from quarter to quarter, and operators report increases in hundreds and thousands of devices annually. The data above describe the state as of the end of June 2025, and since then, the numbers on each side of the report have likely changed upwards.

However, we do not provide the percentage of residents who have a machine within a few minutes' walk, although such a number circulates in marketing materials. We have not found a published source for it that could be verified, and the density of the network varies so significantly between large cities and rural areas that a single average says little to a specific recipient.

How long does a package wait in the machine for pickup?

This question has a direct answer in the carrier's regulations, and it is worth knowing, as common versions can be misleading. After placing the shipment in the machine, the recipient receives a notification about the possibility of pickup within 48 hours. For partner points and machines available during limited hours, this period is 72 hours.

If the package is not picked up within 36 hours of that notification, the carrier sends another message reminding about the remaining 12 hours. After these deadlines, the package is treated as uncollected and returned to the sender, which is us.

This last sentence is important because guides often repeat the information that after the deadline, the package goes to the carrier's branch and waits there for another week. The service regulations do not provide for such a stage for packages delivered to machines. So if you see a notification about a pending package, count on a two-day deadline, not a weekly one.

The regulations also provide for one more situation worth knowing. If the destination machine or partner point operates during limited hours and was closed all day on the day of the original pickup deadline, the pickup deadline is extended by 24 hours. This applies to devices located inside buildings, such as in shopping malls or at stations, whose availability depends on the building's working hours.

When the package returns to us as uncollected, we contact the customer and determine the next steps: resending or refunding. Resending incurs additional transport costs, so if you are going away or will be absent for an extended period, it is better to choose a machine that you can reach on time or a courier delivery to an address where someone will receive the package.

How do we package hemp products?

All orders are packed in neutral packaging: brown cardboard or gray courier envelopes. We do not place product names, category markings, or graphics suggesting the contents on the outside. The sender's label contains the sender's data in the form of the store's name and address, as required by the carrier, but does not reveal what is inside.

The reason is practical. The package may be picked up in a public place, in a machine near a store or in an office, and the contents of the order should not be visible to bystanders. This applies to every category of products, not just cannabis, and we treat it as a standard, not an additional service. If you are just starting to order such products online, we describe the legality and safety of CBD purchases in Poland.

Inside the packaging, we primarily focus on securing the contents against damage. We wrap bottles in bubble wrap and fill the empty space with biodegradable paper shavings to prevent the products from shifting during transport. Dried herbs are packed in airtight sachets that limit air access and loss of aroma.

We do not include promotional materials in the package that would reveal the category of the order to bystanders. The sales document is sent electronically, and if you need a paper version in the shipment, just indicate that when placing the order. This way, the package remains neutral even when opened by someone other than the customer, for example, when picked up in an office.

We treat the winter period separately. In negative temperatures, cosmetics and products with an emulsion consistency can separate, so in the winter months, we use bubble envelopes with insulating properties for them. This does not completely eliminate the risk during several days of frost, but it reduces temperature fluctuations on the route between the sorting facility and the machine.

What to do if the package is delayed?

The first step is to check the calendar, as the most common cause of apparent delays is a weekend or a public holiday. According to the carrier's regulations, these days do not count towards the delivery time, so a package sent on Friday evening is not delayed on Saturday or Sunday.

The second step is to check the scan history in the carrier's app or on their tracking page. The history shows at which point in the network the shipment currently is, and this is usually enough to distinguish a package in normal transit from one that is actually stuck. It also happens that the destination machine is full, and the carrier directs the shipment to another device, which is communicated through a separate notification.

If the status does not change for several business days, it is advisable to contact the carrier's customer service directly, having the shipment number at hand. You can find contact details on the InPost website; we do not provide the hotline number here to avoid directing you to information that may have changed since the article was published.

If contacting the carrier does not resolve the issue, write to us at sklep@ubucha.pl, providing your order number and shipment number. As the sender, we can file a complaint that the recipient cannot file independently, as the sender is connected to the carrier by a service agreement. The deadlines for handling complaints are specified in the carrier's regulations, and we do not provide them here from memory to avoid misleading.

The situation with a damaged package is different. If the packaging shows signs of damage, take a photo before opening it, and then another one after opening, showing the contents. These two photos are the strongest evidence in the complaint process, and without them, the case can be difficult to prove. Send the photos along with your order number to our contact address, and we will take further steps on our side.

How to return an order and who pays for the return?

When shopping remotely, the consumer has the right to withdraw from the contract within 14 days without giving a reason. This is based on the Act of May 30, 2014, on consumer rights, whose consolidated text was published in 2024 and remains in force (Journal of Laws 2014, item 827). The period is counted from the moment the consumer takes possession of the goods.

The procedure on our side is simple: you fill out the return form, receive a label, and send the package via the Paczkomat machine. The refund is processed promptly, no later than 14 days from receiving the withdrawal statement, and we use the same method that was used for the payment. We also refund the cost of the cheapest delivery option we offer.

The direct cost of returning the goods is borne by the consumer, provided they were informed of this before concluding the contract; this is stipulated in Article 34 of the Act. Exceptions include situations where the goods were defective, damaged in transit, or sent incorrectly. In such cases, we cover the return cost and organize the exchange at no additional charge.

Separate issues are the limitations on the right of withdrawal. The Act excludes this right, among other things, for goods delivered in sealed packaging that cannot be returned for health or hygiene reasons once opened; this is stated in Article 38 point 5. A separate basis, Article 38 point 4, concerns goods that spoil quickly or have a short shelf life. These two exclusions are often confused, as they pertain to different situations: the first to the opening of the packaging, the second to the nature of the goods.

In practice, this means that a product in its unopened packaging can be returned under general rules, while opening sealed packaging may exclude this right. Therefore, if you are considering a return, do not open the sealed product until you make a decision. Simply unpacking the shipment and inspecting the goods does not revoke your right of withdrawal.

The law also allows us to withhold the refund until we receive the goods back or the consumer provides proof of return, depending on which occurs first. We only use this when we do not have confirmation of the return shipment, so keeping the confirmation from the machine speeds up the entire process.
