Klauke and colleagues in 2014 (PMID:24210682) worked on a mouse model and described a reduction in the late inflammatory phase of pain after oral administration, with chronic administration not leading to tolerance.

Both of these studies share a common boundary. In neither of the two studies was caryophyllene tested on humans or in inhaled form from dried flower; both studies concern oral or systemic administration in mouse models of pain and inflammation, not sleep or mood.

The Rao team in 1990 (PMID:1983154), also on mice, described a reduction in pain responses, reversed by naloxone and yohimbine. The Wagner team in 2024 (PMID:39728677) administered puffs in short inhalations, mimicking inhalation, and achieved an anxiolytic effect in females, while in males, it occurred only with a single puff.

These three studies have a boundary recorded more broadly. In humans, it has not been shown that myrcene alleviates insomnia at doses typical for inhalation of dried flower. The direction of the effect in rodents depends on the route of administration and sex: after intraperitoneal injection in 2002, a slightly anxiogenic effect was described, while after inhalation in 2024, an anxiolytic effect was noted in females. These two results do not negate each other; they only show that the conclusion depends on conditions that no popular strain database provides.

For the comparison of two strains, this has one consequence. Results with opposite signs come from different routes of administration and from animals of different sexes, and the name of the cultivar does not carry any of these conditions. The above ranges describe the route of administration, not this variety; pharmacokinetic studies for a single cultivar have not been published.

This leads to a simple conclusion that organizes the entire comparison. Since the course depends on the route of administration, two strains administered the same way differ at most in what the profile carries, and neither of their profiles has been confirmed by a series analysis.
