Three out of four registry entries in which BudCare records each of these strains are exactly the same entry: Cannabis flos S-LAB in two strengths and Cannabis flos Synoptis Pharma. Both are produced by the same trio of producers and both have an empty sibling list in their graph.

The registered name does not carry the cultivar name, and this is not a trivial matter. The entry Cannabis flos S-LAB in the lower strength includes twenty-four cultivars in this database, while in the higher strength, it includes twenty-seven. On the packaging issued by a doctor's prescription, both strains from the same producer are therefore recorded identically, and they only diverge in the commercial description, which does not go into the prescription.

The lineage graph connects them more weakly than a shared pharmacy shelf might suggest. OG Kush, one of the two parents of Galaxy Walker OG, is the parent of four cultivars in this cluster and itself stands with an undetermined lineage. Skywalker OG appears as a parent exactly once. Why do two databases provide different compositions for this pair?

Because they do. The profile of both strains has the same status in the data: sources differ in composition. In total, BudCare lists eight names for each, MedWeed lists four for Purps, and for Galaxy Walker OG, it lists four once and one another time. None of these lists is a measurement published together with the method of determination.

The discrepancy has the same direction on both sides. The MedWeed list fits within the BudCare list, never the other way around. Only at BudCare are humulene, linalool, myrcene, and pinene listed with Purps, while with Galaxy Walker OG, only humulene, linalool, and pinene are present. The strangest position is one that MedWeed hardly elaborates on at all. What has been demonstrated for caryophyllene and nerolidol, and what has not been demonstrated?

Four studies, all on rodents and all about a single compound, not a strain. Two concern caryophyllene, which is the leading terpene in the Purps profile, and two concern nerolidol, which leads in Galaxy Walker OG. None studied dried flower, none included humans, and none related to sleep.

Gertsch and colleagues described in 2008 in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) that (E)-caryophyllene selectively bound to the CB2 receptor (Ki = 155 nM) and inhibited carrageenan-induced paw swelling in wild-type mice, but not in CB2 receptor-deficient mice (Cnr2-/-), indicating a CB2-dependent mechanism; the study did not include any anxiety tests. The work was done on mice in vivo and on receptor binding in vitro, on human cells (PMID:18574142).

Klauke and colleagues found in 2014 in European Neuropsychopharmacology that oral caryophyllene reduced the late inflammatory phase of pain in the formalin test in a CB2 receptor-dependent manner, with no effect on the early phase; in a neuropathic pain model, it alleviated thermal hyperalgesia and mechanical allodynia without developing tolerance with chronic administration. The model was a rodent, mouse (PMID:24210682). In neither of the two studies was caryophyllene tested on humans or in inhaled form from dried flower; both works concern oral or systemic administration in mice in pain and inflammation models, not sleep or mood.

On the other side of the pair, Fonsêca and colleagues described in 2016 in Fundamental & Clinical Pharmacology that nerolidol (200-400 mg/kg) reduced the number of abdominal cramps caused by acetic acid in mice and lowered the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines TNF-alpha and IL-1beta; the authors suggested the involvement of the GABAergic system in the analgesic effect, as opposed to the opioid mechanism and potassium channels. The model was a rodent, a mouse (PMID:26791997).

Hojjat along with Rasouli and Shakeri published in 2026 in Arquivos de Neuro-Psiquiatria a result in which oral nerolidol (25-100 mg/kg) prolonged latency to seizures induced by pentylene tetrazole (MCS and GTCS phases) and reduced markers of oxidative stress in the brain; the model was a rodent, mouse with oral administration (PMID:42447923). It has not been shown that nerolidol alleviates anxiety or insomnia in humans; both available works concern rodents and describe analgesic, anticonvulsant, and antioxidant effects, not sleep or mood.

What does the seller's material say about these strains, and what does the study not confirm?

Mood and aroma labels. BudCare adds a set of scent descriptors and one word about possible effects to each product. For all four products, Galaxy Walker OG is described as relaxing, for three products Purps as balanced, and for the fourth, it adds relaxing. These are catalog descriptions, not measurement results.

Aromatic sets are selling more consistently than the share table. With Galaxy Walker OG, descriptions of spicy, minty, and pine notes return, and this is the same for all four entries. For Purps, earthy and spicy descriptions repeat, and in two entries, floral, fruity, or sour notes are added. If anything distinguishes these two strains upon opening the package, it is rather this layer of description than the order of numbers in the database.

For Purps, the data additionally carries a sensory description: purple buds, a grape-berry aroma, and deeply sedating relaxation. This sentence comes from sales materials, not from scientific work, and should be read as such. It depends on the method of administration, not the strain name. Neither for Purps nor for Galaxy Walker OG has a separate pharmacokinetic study been published, so every minute or hour described here refers to the method of taking the raw material, not a specific cultivar. The following description is common for the entire group of dried hemp.

The route of administration determines the course more than the variety itself. After vaporization, the substance passes from the lungs to the blood almost immediately, so the first sensations appear after a few minutes, the intensity increases for another ten to thirty minutes, and the whole effect lasts for two to four hours. After ingestion, the raw material first passes through the intestine and liver, so the first sensations are awaited from half an hour to two hours, and the episode can last six, sometimes eight hours. Hence the most common mistake with oral administration: anyone who thinks nothing is happening after thirty minutes and takes another dose will receive both doses at once. The above ranges describe the route of administration, not this variety; pharmacokinetic studies for a single cultivar have not been published.

The division into these two strains has no significance here, as both reach the patient in the same form and in the same registration positions. The method of intake is determined by the attending physician, not the description of the terpene profile or the trade name on the packaging.

What side effects have been reported for each of these two strains?

None separately for either of them, and the reason is firmer here than usual. The same registration position encompasses dozens of cultivars in the database, so reports filed after the dried flower of one producer cannot be attributed to either Purps or Galaxy Walker OG. Below is a description concerning the entire group of raw material.

Reports of adverse effects are collected for medicinal products with a batch number, not for the strain name, so the following pertains to hemp dried flower as a group of raw materials. The most frequently reported symptoms are dry mouth, red eyes, and increased heart rate. Dizziness upon rapid standing, daytime drowsiness, and temporary worsening of short-term memory are less frequently described, as well as anxiety that increases with dosage. A separate issue is medications taken concurrently, especially sedatives and those affecting coagulation: their assessment requires knowledge of the entire list of preparations, not just the description of the plant.
